Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Did you write down the dimensions for yours? He sent me a PM asking if I had any from mine, which obviously I don't...

With the trans where it is, the cover is literally pressed up against the inside of the trans tunnel. I could have raised the rest of everything else up but then I'd have a lump hanging down where the trans mount was...plus I think the detent hex screw on the 231 case was gonna be the next interference point, and driveshaft clearance was tough as well.

Plus when it's all skinned over, I hardly ever run into problems.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

And for y'alls morning funny, I present: the guy next to me in the airport bar, who ended up in the row behind me on the airplane.

"Don't worry, I'll be asleep before we take off. It's not you, it's the 3 beers and Xanax that I took before we boarded."

...

"So, you're from NJ too?"

girl next to him nods.

"Well, the rent where I am costs me an arm and a leg."

dude is legit missing his left arm. no joke, not even kidding.

"Actually, my arm belongs to the US Government. I got arrested and they gave me the choice between going to prison or joining the military. I picked the Marines...I got to leave 6 months early, but it was a hell of a severance package."

Again, no shit. not kidding. this was the conversation in the row behind me.

I'll have a jack & coke, please. :D

LOL... thats great! I used to fly almost once a month for a while. You reminded me of a few of the "interesting" people I ran into on planes.

I had just seen "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" for the 100th time, and had the pleasure of sitting next to a man who pulled almost every stunt that John Candy pulls on that plane flight..... even removing his socks and laying them over the seat in front of him... this was on an 8 hour flight home from Paris, France about 10 years ago (or more) now. I moved to another seat.

Then there was the gorgeous brunette that sat next to me in the exit row when I was flying back from SFO, Ca. She sat down, introduced herself, then warned me she had Narcolepsy, and if she falls asleep on my shoulder, just gently push her off. I asked her about Narcolepsy, and she explained that she has woken up with bumps/bruises from falling out of chairs and beds, and cannot drive because of falling asleep at the wheel. She also asked me to make sure I or someone wakes her up when we got to the airport. She was wearing a button-up shirt over a loose tank-top, no bra. We talked a bit more, she commented about the plane being hot so she took her button-up shirt off and it was VERY hard NOT to stare, so I shut my eyes and leaned back and took a nap. I woke up to find her sound-asleep face-down in my lap... snoring....(you know why they call a BJ a "hummer"??? yeah...), with a bare size C-D or so boob resting on my arm that had found its way out of the tank top. She did have a blanket though, so I was the ONLY one to know that her tank top "shifted". I have no idea how she got in that position, I can only assume that she slid down the seat somehow, and that allowed things to fall out. After a little bit I did the gentlemenly thing, "fixed" her tank top, sat her back up and put the blanket back on her. She never woke up..... As we got to the airport, she finally woke up after 10 mins of me gently shaking her, said Hi and asked if she had leaned on my shoulder.... I said "Yeah... a little, but it was OK..."

Consider taking a sledge to the tranny tunnel yet? I think it could stand being a little taller inside the cab.

Chris - you don't have a stock tranny tunnel anymore, right? Also, just curious, did you do any heat shielding when you put the exhaust on the same side as the brake/fuel lines or does it work fine without?

Whoa. I ended up talking about drivetrain nerd crap right after Andy's story... hahaha

so what do you call that, a flyby boobing?

I didn't save any measurements, but I still have the templates I used.

Two of the holes were off but I know how much/which direction they were off. I can get some measurements tonight off of them.

Sweet. I think if I have to, I might keep it a little on the low side. Also, if I do that, I might be able to heat/bend the shifter enough to clear the lower HVAC box.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Andy, that's awesome. Sounds like a classy girl.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm not complaining in the least.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris, not sure you saw my thread yet or not but this is where the shift tower wants to be...

And about where the trans might end up...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone have/know someone with a set of the BBS meshies that come on E30's? I found 4 center caps in my garage and don't plan on buying those wheels at ~$200 each just to use these.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just had to visit a guy who destroyed his driver's side D30 shaft which took out the ball joints try to warranty the shaft (which isn't the 1-month old Spicer piece like he says they are). I told him to pound sand.

Ask him if he used Brute Force u-joints.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Carmelo, do you plan on regearing the axles? If not, I would say go for the lowest gear ratio you can get. When I had a FDR of 48 on small 34's it was nice. You could get enough wheelspin for mud and enough torque for rocks. 25:1 vs 41:1 is very significant. I say do it. D300's can be had cheaply enough.

I'm eagerly awaiting a return PM on PBB...

The figures of 25:1 and 41:1 include a gearing change from 3:73 to 4.10(Not going lower for the reason of cost and not dumping money into gay axles) So I plan on gearing to 4.10s and building a 2.46:1 dana20 regardless. Basically the ax15 seems like a nice segway into a T18 if it will be better than my TH400 offroadability wise.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What shafts were they?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

holy crap i had TWO shifts off this week - so I was off from 3am sunday morning until 3pm wednesday afternoon! what? NO WAY!

and I was going to even go up to boston to visit some people but they're all bums and working and don't want to go rage on a monday night... lameeee.

time to register my jeep to PA so i don't get ass-raped if i do get pulled over, especially ripping around state forests and shit. there is SO MUCH BUREAUCRACY here, they even need a VIN tracing and shit. then maybe i'll go try to clean my garage up more or something? i dunno

Remember to gusset the upper arms of the inner Cs as well while you are at it.
