THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah a new body would be killer. Right now I'm pondering these two:

http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Digital-SLR/25468/D7000.html

I find myself wanting to do really long telephoto work quite often and I just don't have the gear for it right now. I also don't have $2500 to drop on this.

check out off-brand lenses too, tamron and sigma make some pretty damn good lenses (others suck, but yea) i'd recommend you some but i'm a canon guy, idk bout yo yellow branded stuff.

Word Of The Day

Anyone got a spare 97 TCU that I can borrow for a day or two? *MUST* be 97, 98-01 are different.

I promise I will not vivisect it, I will merely plug it in and do my testing at the other end of the wiring harness.

Yeah, I thought about that. If I were to get off-brand it would be Sigma. Their 150-500 has me intrigued. I think I might keep what I have and just get an older fully manual prime telephoto like this one.

Anything that far away will probably be moving slowly enough that I have time to MF. That lens will put me at 600mm (double where I'm at now). I actually just purchased a 2x teleconverter but will be returning it because it's so useless with my current equipment. They have their use, but that use is not with my stuff.

I just (last week) bought an old manual macro lens on ebay too. I'm looking forward to experimenting with that when it arrives.

Can you guys use old SLR stuff?

I have a bunch of lenses for a camera that broke years ago. I can check and see what they are.
I can use anything that mounted to a Nikon. I'd be very intrigued to see what equipment you have. The information about the lens can usually be found on the front ring (something like this)

Important facts are:
Brand name
Focal length
Aperature

werd, experimenting with old junk is fun. that and its cheaper than buying new stuff haha. my friends have had good luck with the sigma stuff on canons. i never bought or was even interested in giant lenses bc they were $$ and i never shot anything where i needed it.

depends. i have some older stuff i need to get adapters for. i have some nice old school nikon and canon lenses, but theyre from the 60s, 70s and 80s... lol unfortunately nothing is worth much money except the one nikomat body but it was my grandfather's and that we're keeping.

anything made in the 90s will probably work on something made recently.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll have to ask my dad what the camera was...might have been a Nikon. Would have been mid-80's vintage. That stuff would all be F-mount IIRC?

My SLR is a Pentax and I know they didn't work with that. I don't even know if that camera works either...but for those lenses I have a fixed 35 mm, 28-80, 80-200, and a 2x adapter. K-mount I'm pretty sure. If you can use that I'd probably give 'em to ya, I haven't shot film in probably 6-7 years.

brand new in box (lol, but really, theyve never been used) nikon series E 28mm f/2.8 & 50mm f/1.8, nikkor 85mm f/1.8 auto (looks nasty good, weighs a ton)

nikkor-n auto 28mm f/1.8

vivitar tele-zoom 85-205mm f/3.8

vivitar macro focusing zoom 80-200mm f/4.5.. has an extra 'click' to it at the end for macro.
