make me some and ill trade you materails you want the newer NVH blocks in my 99 are supposed to have better brackets and increased materail around the block bosses but more bolts is always cooler

Shouldn't be a problem assuming I get the templates nailed down and finalized.

Adam wants a set as well I believe.

Yeah, they do. On the passenger side they added some 'gussets' to the casting around the bolt bosses.

This is how mine turned out; note that the oil filter does not fit in an XJ in its shown orientation. You can kinda see the gussets on the most forward bolt boss. This uses 4 bolts; if you want you can extend it forward and tie into the studs for the ignition coiil too.

Not all the holes are on the same plane so you'll have to make spacers for the back. The driver side is more annoying; you can kinda see what I did here:

Do you know the ID/OD of the sleeves you used? Not sure if they have that kind of stuff at the homo depot/lowes or if I have to order some through mcmaster.

Yeah. I bought a 6" long steel pipe nipple, got rid of the threaded parts, and just cut little bits out of the smooth section in the middle. Then I just welded a washer onto the end of it.

On the top two holes, the second one from the left was wrong I think. And the passenger side motor mount bracket doesn't work like it's shown in the picture; I had to cut the diagonal parts back a little bit because it didn't clear the frame horns that support the motor mount bushing.

They don't, they only have thin walled mild steel tubing, poop pipe, and electro-metallic tubing (metal conduit.)

Isn't there a metals supply place right up the street from you? I could swear there is. I'd hit that place up on the way into work one day and see what they have in the drop rack.

What's the reasoning for welding a washer on the end of it?

I'm going to attempt to make a template tonight for one side (probably driver's) and see how it turns out. If it doesn't seem too bad I'll go with it.

If it sucks, I might just buy the kit

Just to have a flat surface to meet up with the bolt boss.

I doubt it's worth trying to find any 'real' tube to make the spacers...I use chopped up pipe nipples for a lot of that stuff. It's only a 1/2" thick motor mount spacer, not a roll cage.

my o-rings are starting to leak something fierce and it would be nice to simplify my elbow a bit while im in there

agreed, I'll take the newer design any day. I like that it only dumps half the oil out when I remove it, instead of all the oil.

Well, that arrangement wasn't gonna work in my case...the oil filter would sit square on the frame rail. This is what it looks like with the adapter installed:

Picture it coming straight off the motor and you'll see the interference issue.

This motor was originally in a YJ which explains the oil filter and belt routing, however the block is a '97+ NVH. There's actually no adapter there at all; the filter just screws right onto the block. The threaded piece in the right angle adapter that the filter screws onto comes out, and you can put it right in the engine block.

haha, my dad bought his grand waggy from weymouth. its like 20-30 mins from me, colin and adam are a little closer.
