THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh, I'm an idiot, I thought you meant a front skid not a TC skid.

The TC skid is put on with riv-nuts in some places iirc, I would just use regular nuts, at least when they spin you can get a xxxxing ratchet on them.

 theres a bunch of good sales going on right now, i even found a place selling orange knuckles for 20% off :gee: Ballistic has a sale goin all september, so once i go deposit some money ill make a large order and get all the junk i need from them.

what size welder you looking for and how much you wanna spend?
some sort of 120v that takes gas lookin to spend 500ish

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Alright, thanks. I just wasn't sure if there was some size that I should use (or more importantly what length bolts are appropriate for the x-member side). Probably will just go home and check it out this afternoon before buying hardware, particularly since I got a bunch of 3/8 and 1/2" hardware laying around.

And I would use nut strips but I'm thinking I will just reach through the floor. I am pretty certain that the only place on the Jeep that hasn't had new floors welded in is right behind the drivers seat and I might get lucky and have no floor above the unibody where the skid connects, will just have to pry up the piece of sheet metal that I RTV'ed down to the floor to cover the holes

i had that issue with the orig hitch on the blue jeep, hooked it up to a tree with a short chain, it never came out i wound up cutting the hitch off and replcing it

yep it completely failed to come out... problem is, the cross pin that holds the draw bar into the receiver is sheared off on one side and it seems it was overloaded at some point before I bought it, the pin won't come out at all. I just whaled on it with a 3lb sledge as hard as I could and the pin didn't even budge. I think the pin is semi-sheared inside the receiver as well so it can't go out straight, and the draw bar is rusted into the receiver anyways. Looks like I'm either throwing some tow hooks on the back of the 96 tonight or not wheeling this weekend... I'm gonna go with the first option, I don't give a XXXX how tweaked the unibody gets, it's doomed anyways

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wtf, I just noticed the reference number on my last UPS tracking email :gee:
Transaction Reference Number: Brian,S

edit: and with that I think it's about time I go work from home. The labs are empty and apparently the upper management told everyone here to take off "after noon".

nah, I'm gonna just weld some forged recovery hooks to my gas tank straps instead.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

SWEEET make sure the gas tank is leaking while you're doing it, I hear that it is a good shielding gas for a nice, clean weld

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

crap I completely forgot to call :dunce:

Not sure you saw this before - do you carry spicer 5-7000X joints?

never heard of it...is it GIGANTIC for your big ol' truck? if that's the real number and you're serious, I can ask...I'm usually close to unbeatable for Spicaaaah pricing minus random obscure sites online that probably steal stuff.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Pretty much yeah, cheapest I can find is 45 bucks and I'd like to have a spare on hand, but find that a bit steep for a ujoint. They're a bit larger than a cd.
