THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm gonna strap my truck to your truck and rip your truck in half while you rip his XJ in half!!!
Yo Dawg, I know you like ripping things in half so we're gonna let you rip the truck ripping an xj in half in half.

you butchered it.

Yo dawg I heard you like ripping things in half so we hooked a truck to your truck so you can rip things in half while you rip things in half!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:roflmao:

That would be ridiculous. I wonder if it could be done?
I am honestly not sure. Probably not with me at the wheel, I'd likely stall it out trying to shift into first, and these engines are known for accidentally starting in reverse and blowing smoke out the intake, etc if you get bounced backwards while stalling. Either that or I'd be buying a new clutch.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

I just emailed on this, even though I don't need it. If that vise is what I think it is, it's worth $150... http://nh.craigslist.org/tls/1908924846.html

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I never understood this. What do guys with buggies do then? It's not like they can just go buzz around the street for 500 miles to break in the gears.

I think it's more of a "no holeshots" rule.

After Bob geared Lucas' axles we loaded them up and were reinstalled in the buggy, it was towed to the desert, ran for about a week of shock valve testing, then ran KOH. I believe those same gears are in there and have seen a couple races since. They were Nitro gears, sponsors gave them to him.

I actually just heard someone talking about an all you can fly pass that you pay $450 and get a pass that you can fly for free for something like a month. I was tempted to try and look that up, would be cool to just fly all over the country, go somewhere different every weekend. Yeah I would sacrifice a month worth of weekends but it would be cool.

Theres 2, ones at $499 and the other is $699 for a month but you definitely would have to set up using it. You also cant fly on Fridays and Sundays. I believe its Jet Blue.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Crap I kinda want that...I need a bench/vise for my work area.

Looks like a wood top though, I want something I can weld on.

Get some sheet metal and skin it. Done. Or take the wood off and put on a 1/2" plate.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ya, its from Jet Blue, and they are all sold out. They are known as the "All You Can Jet" passes.

X2. Easier to swap a top than build the thing from scratch. I'd probably throw some triangulation on the back of the frame though, it looks like it might flop around a bit if you beat on it too hard.

My dad and I were talking about this and came up with this, those guys have about 50k into their rigs and many are sponsored by ricmond, nitro, yukon ect. so whats another $200 to them if the sponsors dont already just give them a set?

Feels good getting stuff done, doesn't it?
I just put the wheels and tires back on this morning and put it in drive while on the lift. Every thing seems good and makes no noises.

Edit: don't pull a Billy: remember to put lube in the diff's and Don't wheel a brand new gearset.
I already filled it and I plan on going urban exploring all next week when the front is done.

I have d30-sized pinion nuts of the non staked variety if anyone needs em at any point in the future. Free, I had to buy a bag of 10 at one point.
Dibs can you bring one or two tomorrow?:kissyou:

no problem, will try and find them when I get home. I *think* they are sitting under the passenger seat in the MJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So...just ordered some stuff...

:D
my damn steering knuckle boot, filter set, window crank, windshield frame seals, connectors, and spare banjo bolts were supposed to be delivered yesterday and UPS decided "oh hey this guy has places to go this weekend we will help him out and deliver his shit on monday instead! ..!..:D..!.." :smsoap:

Yeah, I looked it up right after posting that but then had to run to a meeting. The $699 one you can fly on Friday/Sundays, the $499 one you cant.

Crap I kinda want that...I need a bench/vise for my work area.

Looks like a wood top though, I want something I can weld on.
Would someone be willing to pick up the bench for me at some point on Saturday?
Damnit, I hate inconveniently timed meetings, I would probably have been trying to pick that up tomorrow if I was able to post before you :laugh3:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think Colin was talking about using an old one for during setup only...
Which is exactly what I would not do.
... Don't wheel a brand new gearset.
Some of us cool kids don't have a choice.
I never understood this. What do guys with buggies do then? It's not like they can just go buzz around the street for 500 miles to break in the gears.
Exactly. I maybe had all of 4 miles on mine before I was "wheeling" on them.

I think you overestimate what some of those guys really get from sponsorships.
So...just ordered some stuff...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bill, going to Lobster's tomorrow? Are you bringing the XJ? I forget. I have some ideas and some things I would like to test on your 97 if so

If not, I will have to catch up with you at rocktoberfest, some of the stuff I'd like to test kinda needs you to drive 30-40mph or so anyways so that may be better since there is more mostly-open non paved road available at RC.
