If it weren't for the fact that it would look stupid/cheesy I'd put every single "<x> recovery vehicle" bumper sticker ever on the back of it.

EDIT: Keith, do it. If you do I'll pull the front driveshaft off the massivemobile and wheel it in only 8 wheel drive.

Edit: JEBUS long post, but alot of replies, so .!..!.

Rear bumper held to the tie ins with 2 bolts per side now, 3rd hole drilled on each, gonna drill a couple more out per side (at least 4 per side) before wheeling, so tom night/fri could be late. Dewalt drill bits kick ass, esp since $20 for a full set at home depot (up to 1/2") kicks more ass. I beat on my old 1/2" as hard as I could all night and it's still going strong. I had a backup 1/2" but never needed it. Drill on full speed makes drilling much faster

If I can find the time I might also have to pull the rear tires and brakes and re-tighten the backing plates onto the 9". They are tight for now but hopefully taking the XJ on the highway to work tomorrow and feel like a double check of them wouldn't be a bad idea before driving to NH and wheeling.

Although I will say, I'm taking a training class this week, and the past couple days have been 8-4. And those 8 hours feel like FOREVER. My 18 hour shifts out in the field feel like shorter days, since I'm on my feet, working, and shit is a lot more interesting than sitting in the same place and staring at a computer screen all day

yeah, but you signed up for that, plus you get more time off between shifts. And the other problem is that I did 12 hours most of it in front of a computer so it really sucked. I mean the time went by pretty quick today until about 3:30 but still

got the back wall and 75% of the right wall done, cant wait till i get this project finished, its coming out so awsome!

I ended up being antisocial and then being social and meeting folks for the last 30 min at the bar, ended up being pretty good

I got my tires mounted on my new wheels, but the my rear end STILL isnt done. I can not catch a break to save my life! Anyone have two seats open that my buddy and I can steal on Sat if I cant get my POS done?

I might if I can find the time to clean out the back of the rig and install my rear seat back before then. I plan on cleaning but finding the hardware to install might be tough since idk where the hell it is or what size/thread count those two bolts are. Right now I have 1 seat but my buddy is a maybe for tagging along since he isn't sure if he can get the day off.

Believe me, I expected it :laugh: Just figured I would offer. I will probably take it easy on the first time out anyway so it's most likely for the best. Esp, ya know, without much in terms of skids (or any skids, depends if I can get the stock skid installed in time) and a transmission which is sounding not happy and all. I'm really just hoping my Jeep holds together to get me to lobsters and my trans (or whatever is shitting the bed) and fuel pump hold up for the drive

Ken (or anyone else), figure you can double check my thought process on this...

I have a few power bricks in storage, IIRC one is for my (now non-existent) external HDD, one for something else, and one from a (now dead) laptop. IIRC my external HDD brick has dual voltage out, 5V/12V DC and I have one that does 19V DC and the last was something else

Would there be any issue with using a 12V (or a regulated 19V) output from a power brick to bench test a circuit that will eventually be going into a Jeep? Granted I know the Jeep's voltage isn't always going to be exactly 12V so life isn't perfect... but I guess the big question is whether a power brick output a steady 12V out for use in test like that, I never really checked the output of a power brick myself. I would rather design the system away from the Jeep since... well... I can't have the Jeep anywhere near my desk where I would be doing most of the design/soldering and being able to have a test setup would be awesome. IIRC the power bricks to at least 1A so it would def be enough power for my current needs.

I'd build a breakout for whatever jeep thing you are working on so it can just be plugged in. Hit the jy and get oem connectors and add some wire and barrier strips, done.

Anything from 12 to 15 volts should be expected, I usually test at 15 so I know the upper bound on power dissipation has been tested.

Looks like you got the pinion depth spot on. What's your backlash? I'm guessing it's a little open. If you tighten it up some it will bring the pattern down towards the root a little more. It does look pretty good, though.

Woke up at 6:20 today, said fawk that, reset the alarm for 7:20 and went back to bed. It was effing glorious.

Drove the Jeep to work (took back roads, taking highway home I think). Sounded like some small rocks were hitting the inside of the trans tunnel while I was driving in 5th at (I would guess) about 50-55mph :dunno: I just ignored it, will check the fluids when I get home I guess. Also smelled something like fuel when I got to work though idk if it's the tank leaking or what, it all looked dry and I never had fuel smell before. Maybe it wasn't even my rig, I didn't spend too much time looking for the cause. I already planned on picking up a fuel pump before heading up to NH this wkend in case I end up needing one, maybe I will order a fuel tank too just for hell of it.

I figured if you were building jeep related electronics they'd be connected to something or other in the jeep wiring harness, I like to build a breakout for that portion of the wiring so that I can unplug the whole thing and bring it back inside instead of working on it in the jeep.

:gee:Mine used to get wheeled when I wasn't involved in any clubs and just went off on my own and found woods. Now I have to get "real" recovery points and all that garbage. Plus my Jeep didn't take well to storage. It will get wheeled sooner than yours will, though that's not saying much since you will have a better end result. yes i said that several months ago, and no mine still hasn't been wheeled yet, at least not with any club, may have found some woods on (my buddy's land) to drive around in for a while :eyes:

Well I would probably be wiring my own connections, this wouldn't be going in-line (or in place of) any existing hardware. Right now it's just going to be used for building my engine deactivation circuit and getting it to work with the remote lock/alarm system I picked up. Should be pretty simple but I want to build it on a bench first since working at night requires light and it's easier to turn a desk lamp on than run extension cords to my Jeep or move the folks cars out of (and eventually back into) the garage.

Only question I really had was whether or not a power brick typically puts out a steady DC signal or if I would have to do any signal processing to get a steady 12(ish) volts out of it. Though I did already have plans to use a breakout. Planned on using one of those radio shack project boxes to hold everything and run the wires out through some quick disconnects. Then I could also add other OEM connectors to the sides of the box whenever I come across the need for them.
