THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I tested out my 5" hole saw on a piece of scrap 3/8 plate. It cuts at 5.029" dia and the thing it goes through needs to fit over a 4.850" dia. That gives me 0.124" clearance on the dia, so about 1/16" on the radius. Just about perfect if you ask me. It just needs to clear it, not reference off of it. With my drill press at 250 rpm, a controlled hand, and plenty of lube I didn't even dull, nevermind lose, any teeth on the hole saw. I'm looking forward to cutting up the real plates. It did make one hell of a racket though.

Oh yeah, I did a little more welding on Ken's ramps. The regulator on my MIG reads no pressure, but there's still gas coming out :gee:. I used up the last of my acetylene cutting off the ubolts from my 44 too. Time to make one trip and get everything filled up...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

 wow, considering recommended speed is around 75 rpm. howd it go?
See above/below.

My drill press only goes down to 250 rpm anyway, so that's all I could do. Recommended speed is actually 65 rpm for a 5" saw...

awesome  I definitely owe you big time. Feel free to dig into my 75/25 tank as much as you need to.

Gotta find time one of these mornings to pick up the metal for trussing those ramps... I'm thinking 9' to 10' of 2" x 3/16" angle and ??? feet of 1" 1/8" flat stock per ramp, plus some random angle for vertical truss bars at each end where it needs triangulation more.

Haha, don't worry - I will :D I was honestly just trying to use my gas up so I can go get mine filled. I probably won't get them filled till I get back from AK...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Took me forever to change my u-joint today in the back of Jeff's place. I smashed my finger between the ears of the axle shafts after a blow from the mallet, and I Begleyed a Spicer 760 u-joint cap, yay for me.

I took the fuse out of the headlight harness Jeff was installing so it wouldn't work when he went to turn it on. Best part was Adam witnessed me do it, but totally forgot about it so he was really helping Jeff troubleshoot it, and asked if I had a multimeter.

I also changed my coolant temp sensor, and I'll get the fan clutch changed tomorrow hopefully, then wire up the winch, but other than that, I don't have any excuse not to go wheeling this weekend at Lobsters, other than my transmission I think isn't too health.

Never had a problem with the Yukon kits. Pretty sure Travis's kits were Yukons as well? That's the only brand Bob at Baystate uses for gears.
When I did the bearings in my rear axle earlier this year, I got a set up kit from National Drivetrain. I ended up going back to my Yukon kit for 0.003" shims because the smallest thickness in the ND kit was 0.010", and there was only like 1 of them.
Yukon kit was awesome.
Ross wants a ginger cat. That way I can make fun of both of them at once.
Haha, its funny because Gingers aren't real people.

hahahaha wow, you asshole :roflmao: that's pretty funny though.

I am gonna have to put marbles in your frame rails or exhaust or something... pulling fuses is just mean!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sorry Jeff, but it was pretty funny you have to admit.

It was awesome because they were like hmm, its not working, Adam suggested he turn the car on, see if that makes a difference. They checked a few things, I made some commentary from the side lines, and then when Adam asked me for the tester, I told them they should probably try a new fuse. Adam didn't get it at first, then he was like wow I totally forgot.

Thanks again for letting me work in the back. Got my money back for those crappy snap ring pliers too. Apparently you can use them then return them like you suggested I do.
