Colin: laaaaaaame :spin1:

What it looks like when you drain one 5ton rockwell:

I highly approve of it when this happens:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Scott & Anthony, nice glad to see work getting done.

Homework/final projects for both classes have been kicking my ass. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish up the NP435 and have enough time to do the gauges in my CTD as well.
Yeah, this week has been pretty good. I wish I had cooler (and less humid) weather like his when I was taking vacation time.. would have made so much more progress with my time off  Now that I have made progress I don't want to give the garage back to the folks; I want to start plating the unibody... maybe I will do that in a couple weeks if my jeep makes it to/from NH for wheeling..

Tie 2x6 to unibody rails...
I am using 1"x1"x1/4" when I do mine (at least I think that's what we got :gee:)

Edit: And I may or may not be making it to Pano's, and if I do I will likely be on 2 wheels. I want to be able to get to/from the trail before my trans nukes itself (I really don't trust it ) so I want to keep the miles down until after then. Or maybe I will take the Jeep to Pano's and use that as a test drive to see if anything breaks or the noises get worse. We will see.

and the pano's M&G :spin1:

I'm driving my ten wheeled contraption up there if you want to give it a spin...

Resurrected another rusty ass 91 SWB MJ last night (gas tank was SCARY bad), and nearly finished refilling the rearmost diff on the massivemobile. I need a better diff lube pump because the stupid laundry detergent pump thing I bought at autozone took forever and a day AND broke halfway through. I am glad diffs only need servicing every 15k because I don't really like dumping 100 dollars worth of diff lube (and that's the cheapest stuff I could find) very often. At least the old stuff is getting filtered and dumped into the fuel tank so my effective price is more like 70 dollars.
That looked like my friend Ian's Jeep... He got it in trade for a mountain bike... He wanted me to do it for him and I said no haha

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wicked ghey, youre getting 2x2x.250 square :D

we got 2x2x.250
I've already got a bunch of that... I don't want my rig to weigh more than the moon.

hahaha, that's the guy. He said a friend of his convinced him to trade for it on CL. I think he's hooked now, showed him Swan Ave in the rainstorm after we finished swapping the tank and it took him a while to get used to the idea of aiming for the bumps and potholes instead of trying to go around them... silly subie drivers :confused1

Gas tanks really aren't that bad, I've done the one in the 96 3-4 times now (kept having to move the damn thing halfway through working on it so I'd throw the tank in, drive it somewhere else, drop tank etc), the one in my MJ, and the one in his MJ.

then use it. i wouldnt trust legs any smaller then .250" wall, MAYBE some 2x2x.188. i wouldnt use anything less the .250" from the rockers down (rockers, legs, crossmembers, bellypan). yeah itll add some weight but id rather not worry about strength and the extra weight it adds is low and helps a LCG.

Same difference. it has sat in my shed since I got it. Now that the fall is coming work will start getting done again and it will be put to use.

Why not? I want my Jeep to have it's own gravitational field, helps keep it planted on the ground and improves traction, right?:wow:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How did you meet him? He used to work with me at the bike barn. I tried to teach him everything I know, but It's hard to fill a cup with a few holes in the bottom.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

On here - he posted up going "my shits leaking gas like a sieve" and I offered to help fix it up a bit since he wasn't too far away. Username is subieracer05 iirc.

ill be skinning mine with dimple died 14g and 1/2" plastic :D you can build it how you want, i just dont wanna order a million different sizes of material. remember like what Bill said about the tube order you talked about a while back? instead of everybody wanting whatever, i plan on getting a couple of sizes and people can decide from there if/how much of it they want of it.

I convinced him to sign up and he told me he did but I never saw his posts. If I did, I didn't connect the username to him. I told him if he could get it to my house I'd help him, but the timing never worked out.

Yeah, you have a point about what material to use. We'll see what happens, then. There's a steel place a mile and a half from my new house (Mid-City).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha yeah timing was lousy, he showed up sometime after work late last week and we yanked the stock skid off it (damn I am jealous of that skid btw) and I couldn't find any problems with the pump leaking, so I told him to order a tank and a set of straps. Yanked the old tank Tuesday, found out that one of my toolboxes grew legs (or is in storage or something, no idea) and had to call it quits because we couldn't get the nuts off the j-bolts due to rust and lack of angle grinder accessories. Got everything lined up and installed last night. For some reason it ended up being dark AND raining both times we worked on it, even though the forecast was clear, damn I hate weather reporters :flamemad:

Took it for a spin on swan ave, all four bolts for the exhaust downpipe to cat flange promptly broke in half and fell out due to rust (the flange is so rusty that there are notches in the corners instead of holes, it will need some serious welding/work) and DAMN is it ever loud now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Geez, that's crap luck. Yeah he probably got there late, around 9pm. I'm guessing he was working till 8...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah, 8:30 to 9 or so. I was at Home Depot both times he showed up, that store owns my soul even more than rockauto.
