THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

would someone care to explain to me why my radiator explodes coolant out of the seams when i put 5 lbs of pressure in it. but when i let it idle for 30 minutes its perfectly fine?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

because you're too fat.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I dunno dude, I've watched people notch tube with a grinder, and I've seen it done with a notcher.... and I totally don't get why you think a grinder gives better results

ive done both, try to do multi-tube copes or angles outside the range of a notcher or a cope in the middle of a bend

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cap is on, thurss pressure, ive been workin out

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

why'd you underline "watched"? And yeah, I know what you're talking about with the multi tube copes etc... I still don't see how a grinder is easier. I think there's a reason 90% of people who build cages at even a semi-pro level spend hundreds of monies to have nice notchers. To each his own :)

are you using a pressure tester to get the 5 lbs? when its running, everything heats up and seels along the seams? :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

pshhhhhh, a 5 axis CNC mill is way better at notching tube than any of those silly grinders and notchers you're talking about

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

example: tube notchers are cool, but you can make way better copes with an angle grinder
how is it better or more accurate if it's done by hand? sure it takes more talent but i like to work smarter, not harder.

a grinder can do more/different types of copes then a notcher. 100% of those builder who use a notcher, use a grinder to "adjust" the copes made, or make custom ones the notcher cant. a tube notcher cant make a tube fit perfect everytime, but a grinder can

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hokay.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How does a tube notcher not make a perfect (insert OD size here) hole everytime?

I would think it's your measurements that would be wrong?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

its a "to each their own" type of thing. for every job, theres different ways to accomplish the same outcome. i shouldnt have really said easier, just different and can be better for certain things.

yea a pressure tester. your explanation works.

i took a vice grip and re-crimped it where i could. the bottom half of the right side tank pisses fluid out.

either way its new radiatuh time

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you bitches need to get off the internets and get outsides, im now off to makin mo mounts then go watch monster trucks after

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i think ross is referencing extenuating circumstances (compound bends meeting together, etc) and i'm sure someone has made a notcher for it. i'd probably adjust them with a grinder for that too in favor of not buying the notcher made of unobtaniumite.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

FWIW when I said I "watched" someone using a notcher, I was watching Scott Dollard and Lucas Murphy building a cage, and though I don't consider them to be gods, I consider them to be fairly competent cage builders :) I didn't see them "adjust" the copes that they were making
