i'm not looking forward to having to make some clean cuts with my grinder. oxy/ace is so much faster and easier. too bad it makes a huge mess. hey colin, want to try out your torch supah dupah torch on my doubler plate? i have a perfect use for it.

Sure, I'm just not awesome with it yet. If you have a scrap piece of the steel you wanna cut, bring that next time and we can mess with settings, etc. to get it right.

EDIT: Anthony, it's not tough once you get used to it. I did some real nice straight cuts using my angle grinder on the 1/2" plate I used for my U-bolt plates.

^This. My torch cuts through up to 1" plate like butter with pencil thin cuts, minimal slag...

when setup correctly .

Still gotta figure that out.

The more I fabricate stuff, the more I realize that there is a better tool for almost everything than the angle grinder.

having cut out 3/4" d-rings tabs with both a torch and a grinder before, id pick a grinder anyday. its wicked quick to make a whole tab AND use only one wheel.

i made my d-ring tabs with a bridegport and an enormous band saw. (read: 3 phase)

the biggest difference is between abresive cutting vs plasma/torch cutting vs mechincal cutting (sawzall/portaband/bandsaw)

example: tube notchers are cool, but you can make way better copes with an angle grinder

I dunno dude, I've watched people notch tube with a grinder, and I've seen it done with a notcher.... and I totally don't get why you think a grinder gives better results
