ha. ha. ha. you think that works around here? who are you kidding? ha. ha. ha. :laugh3:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So much for having a couple hours to work on the Jeep after work. By the time I get home it will probably be at least 7. Almost time to go home...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wtf i can't find my countersinks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just drove the massivemobile around worcester :D went right by 5 worcester cops and a state police unit, no response at all.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have just one question Ken, how sweet is it going to be driving that thing in Boston...

Alright, maybe two. When do I get to drive it?

Don't justify these questions with answers Ken. I can answer them for you.

Question 1) AWESOME, duh.

Question 2) You complain enough about driving your lame jeeps. What makes you think someone would want to let you drive their cool one?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1) oh god, I can't decide if it'll be terrible or amazing. Streets are way narrow and people are idiots but the reactions will be priceless.
2) whenever you happen to be around, you probably know standard better than I do, so it's not like you'll harm it any.

People try to sneak by me when I have my blinkers on and shit like that a LOT more than I expected... hello, I am driving a bigass truck and can't see your silly little roller skate of a car (even compared to an XJ these things are roller skates), why don't you ignore that right hand blinker and sneak by me while I'm trying to merge over?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken I missed if this was asked, but do you have a CDL? I'd say it's safe to assume you need one for that beast.

BTW, Dundy rocks! He made my XJ look less like a station wagon tonight. Much appreciated!

made some progress making the plate on the top left tonight. the 6 main bolt holes are drilled and line up and, cut the shift rail to length, bored a sleeve to go over the shift rail, cut it to length, and burned it on. it's gonna be hard to get the center of the driveline correct... i have an idea though.

No CDL required :D
CDL is required for 26,001lbs and up OR air brakes. This is 19xxx lbs and air-assisted brakes (which fall in the same category as vacuum-assisted brakes and are operationally similar.)

What'd he do, remove fender flares and trim fenders?

awesome, you crazy MEs do things with metal I can't figure out how to do at all. On the driveline - maybe a pair of lathe chucks on the same track or something, spin them both and tack weld? Seems it'd be "easiest" to just make a whole new shaft, since you'd get everything perfectly concentric.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

naw i'm not talking about making the coupling shaft. i've already got that figured out... i'm talking about getting the holes concentric from the output of the 231 plate to the input of the d300... i have an idea though. i might need an extra 231 output shaft, though. does anyone have one from when they did a SYE?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Will the shaft be damaged?

I have a couple spare cases you can borrow a shaft from as long as it won't get damaged. I think Keith has one or two sitting around also.

I have the 231 in my XJ and a 231 w/ SYE out of my XJ.

Aka: Long story short once I get a driveshaft for the rear and the proper axle shims I will be swapping the SYE case in and will have a spare case you can mooch parts from.. the problem with that approach is that idk where I will be in terms of lift after I install my shackly relocation brackets so idk what shims to get, so my stock case isn't going anywhere yet... I know you have shims for sale (unless they sold) but I think I might need more than 4* which IIRC is what you have.

He'd REALLY rock if he could make HIS xj look less like a station wagon.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone ever drive without a rear driveshaft? How far could someone make it with a rag stuffed in there?

yeah but it was on a 96-up transfer case so it doesn't count.

grab a 1L coke bottle and some duct tape, apparently works pretty nicely when done right.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

why does it not matter on 96+? Will it not leak out?
