THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was going to do it, untill I read their current rules. With the money I would have to put into my car to meet all their requirements, I could take the car and run it at my local racetrack every weekend. The entry fee would actually get me through most of the season at the track too.

This fall at the end of racing season, I will keep my eyes open for someone selling off a race car that fits the description for a decent price, and maybe enter that.
For now I will just stick to the figure 8 races at the fairs

yea its gotten more expensive. once i have a real job its something i definitely want to do, seems cool as hell.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I saw the pumkin on the driver's side and the pinion up high. Didnt realize it was upside down.:anon:
Ya, there were no HP D44's stock in any Jeeps (exception was the South American HP44 that is the same thing as the TJ rubi-44, except high pinion, and the JK's).

Yeah, tonight - that post was planning for going tonight so you actually didn't miss anything

I'll probably be a little later than I said, but I will be there.

EDIT: hahaha, my brother's gf just sent me a link to techno jeep. I don't think she realizes it's about 2-3 months old now...

Sounds good, I never saw the part where you said it was supposed to be tonight.
Where in Boston will you be? Did you get my PM?

Wherever you are - I'll just be driving through, so any address works, I'll throw it in my GPS unit and show up. Got your PM

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Saweet, just heard from Billy that he found someone who can machine the DOM to the right ID for 75% thread depth  Looks like i get to try and negotiate stealing the garage again for a while so I can ream out my knuckles and measure what lengths I need for my tie rod and drag link.

So how much of the TRE should be threaded into the Tie rod? Am I correct that the standard for threading a TRE (or any threaded rod) in should be approx 1.5x the diameter of the rod, so for a 7/8" TRE threading 1.5"-2" in should be sufficient?

Long story short I COULD measure/cut my drag link to thread in as much as possible for strength but I plan on getting a drop pitman arm later on down the line. I want to keep enough extra thread that I can adjust the drag link length and not have to shorten or re-tap it and I don't know how much length I will need to lose when I add the drop pitman arm (I will figure that out later once I have the #s to do the calculations). I figured I would try to take my measurements right now so that my drag link is threaded in approx %50 of the way. Sound sufficient?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh mark i have that little plastic piece ken gave me, to give to you. are you in boston? i can bring it to you down on campus or something one of these days, since i've got jack shit to do lately.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, how much is the guy going to charge you to bore out the DOM?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just got more pics of that '97 XJ and it's lookin nice, no power options or anything, just how I wanted it :D (well maybe power locks, can't really tell from the pic)

No clue, going to get a PM tonight (hopefully with that info). don't think it will be much. He just has to take out 2 thousandths to open it up for the %75 thread depth.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

blah, meetings all day.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you decide not to, LMK and I will. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. I would love to destroy it and put an AW4 in it!

If you try to pull some bullshit stunt like that, I will slap you silly.

I was going to tell him he could have it since I won't be able to get up TOO soon, but then I read that blasphemy

And I have a strange feeling I won't be getting it :( I have it on my schedule to go take a look at it on Friday evening but he has a couple guys looking at it tomorrow and for some reason I get the idea that for $1300, one of the people tomorrow will be picking it up.

So someone should go look at it RIGHT NOW and buy it for me, I will pay you an extra $100 for your time if you can talk him down to $1200 :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Keith, get it and I'll help you put a 42RE and an NP249 in it :eyes:

then we can swap in a d35 and maybe put 5 inch lift blocks and 37s on it

that's it? shouldnt take long so can't cost too much $$. it would probably make sense to run the tap through while it's on the lathe and all centered too. if it's more than a few bucks i can probably do it in the machine shop at school

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone wanna go to the casinos friday?

im not so much a gambler. i just like the bars there. but ill prolly find a blackjack table towards the end of the night

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i wouldn't mind playing low stakes blackjack or poker... but i can't go, sorry.

do they have billiard tables? :D i'd rather put 5-10 bucks down to play in a tournament.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

this is one of the few times I wish I was still down in VA. I had a bar down the road from me that had happy hour every night. During happy hour (at least a few nights per week) they held a free poker tournament. Free to get in, with cash prizes for those who won. It was all just to get people in and buying drinks but still... drink cheap booze and play (free) poker for a few hours and have the chance of coming out of it with $100-$200? That's a win in my book.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I just got some quotes back for a new security software and system jazz, without getting into the details of the system here are the "Server requirements". Anyone see anything wrong with these specs? Something jumps right out at me. It has to be a typo.

Minimum Specs:
2Ghz CPU Dual core or better (2 CPUs or Quad core preferred)
6GB ram
40GB hard drive space (plus additional for storage media).
Supported OS’s:
OS Must be 32 bit.
- Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate
- Windows Server 2008, R2 or later
- Windows XP Professional, SP3 or later

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't see why security software would require that kind of CPU/RAM but hey, no one can write efficient software anymore... I'm betting RAM is the one because 6GB of RAM and a 32 bit OS without the PAE extensions enabled (/PAE in boot.ini, among other tweaks) is useless, it's only going to see about 3.5-3.75GB of RAM after the I/O regions are taken out.

EDIT: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283037 - up to 64GB physical addressing, 4GB virtual per process, with /3GB switch also added to boot.ini you can get kernel reservation per process down to 1GB and user space up to 3GB

To be fair it is doing a little more than motion sensors.

Exactly what popped into my head.
My bet is it'll run on a 64-bit OS or that 6 is a typo.
