THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I definitely just saved myself a trip to the ER with a sterile rubber glove and a magnet out of an old hard drive, metal still managed to find my eye even with a full face shield on, luckily this time it was almost on the surface, could see it sticking out, so I persuaded it to leave

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So for anyone who has done the swap... is there any benefit to using a WJ booster/MC rather than a booster/MC from a '96 XJ? I know the '95/'96 XJ is a direct swap but is there any reason I should use the WJ one?

I got an '02 WJ booster/master at the all you can carry but I just scored a '96 XJ booster from Everetts. I'm trying to figure out if there's any reason to use the WJ one over the XJ one.

I love everetts. '96 booster/master plus ZJ prop valve plus a bunch of random brake lines, plus a '96 soundbar w/ speakers for $50

Edit: I just compared the two and they look almost identical. Maybe just a different mounting angle?

Scott - wish I knew, hell for a few hours I had both sitting in my apartment, I really should have compared them.

It actually wasn't bad at all, if you can put a contact lens in, this was a piece of cake. And I noticed an immediate improvement in how my eye felt so it was pretty awesome. The bad sinking feeling was the worst part, the same thing happened to me on december 31st except I got hit much worse, it went deeper, and I waited 2 days before going to the ER so it was very mildly infected and semi healed over. This time I recognized the feeling and said "oh I gotta take care of this RFN" and it's already pretty much not bugging me at all.

good thing it wasnt aluminum or some other non-ferrous metal!
high five!
No kidding, this is when I'm really glad I don't have a TIG machine :roflmao: then I would have likely been building this out of aluminum and I'd be in the ER.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's weird as hell. You're supposed to have to space out the WJ booster... mine is already about 3/8" shorter than the XJ one.... but my WJ booster already has an aluminum spacer like the 95/96 XJs have and goes in without needing to 'clearance' my pinch weld at all. If I removed the spacer I would have to clearance the pinch weld I think, but the pedal would sit at the right spot. wtf did I buy?

And also my '96 XJ one fits perfectly, no spacing or anything required. My brake light comes on all the time but I just need to adjust the sensor down about 1-2mm and that will be fixed (IIRC I read you can just use a zip tie so I will try that first). Now I just gotta find out how to run the lines. I think this might be a bit of a PITA... for some reason I don't think the lines on my old prop valve are going to play nice.

Ken, I know you just did this... Where do I need to save the flares (i.e. which ends are bubble flares vs double flares?

Edit: Disregard that bubble vs double flare question. It doesn't matter to me. I got all double.

 decided to pull the carpet/interior outta black jeep. the DS of my tranny tunnel looks like poopy!!!! bunch of cracks and rips, and a nice smashed in floor from tossing a rear d-shaft that is also cracking.

......you know, it seems to be in the area that would be cut out for a doubler......

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so I got the booster on, MC bench bled and on, ZJ prop valve internals swapped over...

Is there anything special I should be doing to bleed the prop valve or just bleed normally and fluid will flow through/fill it?

The WJ booster is "shallower" so if you're installing it into a renix era xj/mj it will not interfere with the washer bottle. Other than that I believe they are comparable in performance.

My WJ booster did not have a spacer plate and I pulled it myself. Sounds like an xj one to me.

Normal bleed, start from the passenger side wheel and go all around. Pump the brake when you're done and if it's still soft, repeat.

Thanks, I compared and they looked identical so I figured they were comparable performance.

I know for a fact one of the boosters was from an XJ and one from an WJ. The XJ one had a slightly longer pedal shaft but if I remove the spacer on the WJ one they would be the same I think... except idk why most people had to use 1/4" of spacers and mine doesn't :dunno:

Sweet, now I just gotta motivate myself to bleed it. Maybe that will be a project for tomorrow.
