THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I am trying to decide if locked rear and truetrac front would be good enough to get me through something like #10 with anthony's old LTBs. I don't care about body damage, just as long as I can drive it home.
if its anything like the trail we did last year you will have difficulties not having a real locker in the frt

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

what trail is #10? the axle that bump, billy, and i owned had a tru trac...
I don't remember what 10 is but I know it's in the hard list. I was planning on doing a 'moderately hard' trail at most and looks like I will be staying that way.

and are you talking about the 9" or the D30? The 9" has a full detroit or so I was told and I am pretty sure it does or I would have found out otherwise by now.. I can't recall which axle you owned but I think you are talking about the D30 since I think the 9" went straight from bump to billy... I don't have the D30 that passed between y'all, I just true-trac'ed my own.

Alright, good to know.

Oh, about trail #10.

I never owned the 9" that you now own, but yes it does have a full detroit.

I was merely going to say that my tru trac'd dana 30 was better than an open case, but not as good as a real locker. i wouldn't count on it to get me through, but sometimes it did help a lot.

if you're down in the area let me know, my plan is to spend all evening friday + all day sat/sun working on jeep #3 and maybe fixing #1 and #2 a bit, I can meet up with you with those parts anytime on sat/sun or anytime friday night.

seriously... but history of automobiles? I don't think you'll have a problem with it either way

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you gotta be kidding me.

Though my heat did turn on this morning... I was like "wtf"

And of course this is the one day out of the month that I chose to wear shorts and no coat instead of my regular jacket+jeans :roflmao:

Oh I had no plans on counting on it to get me through anything. Regarding #10 It says 33's with a locker so I didn't know if it was something that a single locker would be good enough. I am pretty much running trails as if I had an open case up front and if the truetrac helps great. Only reason I got the truetrac at all is since it is a full carrier and will give me the extra strength (since I got 4.88s I am doing everything I can to decrease flex, only thing I have left to do is a truss). Oh and because it was relatively dirt cheap. That was the other big selling point.

FYI, I may or may not be up to Worcester tomorrow like I mentioned. Ends up some folks in CA thought it would be smart to scheduled a call for 6PM EST so that kindof cuts into shopping for tools. If I can cut out of work at 4 then I may be up at the tool shed from 5-6PM and can meet anytime around then, though I have a hard stop at 6 when I gotta get on the road home and phone into my meeting. Would you be back in Worcester around then?

Sure, I'm planning on hitting the road no later than 5 tomorrow so I should be at home by around 5:30 unless I end up at Home Depot / Lowes.

This morning at the JY I took a sawzall to an MJ bed... :( would have taken the whole bed but the rest of it was rotten, so I just got the rear bed side corners that always rot out and don't come with the Z&M Jeeps replacement bedside panels.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's snowing really hard here and it is almost May!?!
I know. We're getting a dusting here, just enough to kill plants and turn the top of the grass white.

My place in VT is getting hit hard and I was swimming in the lake this last Saturday! They've got about an inch already and the weather report for up there states: "Periods of snow this morning, then snow or rain showers likely this afternoon. Additional snow accumulation 4 to 7 inches."

On a totally different note, those considering fuel cells on the cheap. It isn't, especially if you use -AN fittings.

yeah.. it was cake. the real kicker is that the professor does not only have no license he does not own a car. big liberal wahooo in that class, he kinda pisses me off

We had "chance of snow" at 5AM this morning, but fortunately I have no idea if it happened or not.

As for the fuel cells... understood. The reason I was considering it "cheap" is because the tank cost me $75 even with NAXJA friend pricing and if I bought a brand new pump assembly it'd cost me around $250-300 :scared:. With that kind of price for stock gear, pretty much anything starts looking cheap! The only reason I haven't already taken the plunge and bought the parts is because I can't find a cheap fuel cell with hose barb fittings for the fill spout instead of an aircraft style lid, and I want to keep it in the stock location without chopping holes in the bed.

Stock: $75 tank, $250 pump assy.
Fuel cell: $170 or so for tank, reuse the in-tank pump from the stock tank (just the assembly is bad not the pump itself), leaves $155 for pickups, mounting hardware, and fittings.

You're not going to find one that is cheap with a fill spout inlet unless it is a knockoff. All the ones I've seen at least meet racing requirements for rollovers and such and that just means more $$$.

I'll give you a hint, I spent over 3x what you have "left for pickups, mounting hardware, and fittings" on mine. I'm not proud of it either. :(
Don't use -AN fittings and you can probably get away a whole heck of a lot cheaper.
Hose barbs and rubber line
:D
Yeah. My -AN stuff is sure nice and pretty and it'll get the job done great. I just didn't want to risk hose barbs and clamps when the pressure is less than a couple feet behind my seat. If it where under a bed or something I might feel better about the cheaper route.
Figure out what it was that we missed?
No, I might just be that close. :scared:
