Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh hai thunderstorms, what's up?

oh shit scott that looks siick. do want!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I really think I might have to call about that one and offer like $175. I don't even care if I have to set it up out in the shed and bring all my work out there. That's just badass. As long as it can do low speeds I think it may be a necessity.

And I just called home to find out what's going on for dinner (since I am thinking I may have to swing by the bar for a beer and a sandwich on the drive home to celebrate the fact that I am making more phat loots per hour than I was last week ). I was told there are thunderstorms with hail and everything. I hope my Jeep isn't dented at all  It's still not raining here. I just looked out a window and saw a couple guys in the grass next the the building across the street golfing. Please remind me why am I inside working when I could be outside doing that?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You clearly didn't read mine

I don't read NONSENSE

I know the 4.5" kit uses the same springs with a shackle, that is why I was saying it was a good comparison.

Not a good comparison. Shackle = more leverage.

If you both had the 3.5" kit, that's a good comparison.

This was when the only modifications I had were the 4.5" kit and 32's. No gearing, lockers (My first time with lockers was that trip we took, remember?), axlewrap, or anything else.
He was on 31's with no lockers/gearing, and stock shackle. We wheeled about the same amount, our Jeeps were actually almost identical.

32s vs 31s. I'm guessing your tires were also wider.

Did he put weight in the rear when he first got it and drove around to break them in?
Driving it only on the road isn't going to cycle the leafs through their range, so of course they aren't really going to wear in and settle too much.

Yep, we put weight in it and he drove around with his subs.

I also drove around my red 2-door when I first got it with weight in it. Also wheeled it about every other weekend. They only started sagging when I bumped it up to 5.5" (aka longer shackle, bigger tires, more gearing = axlewrap).

Finally, to prove my point: PICTURES.

My old red 2-door. After I had driven around and wheeled with the springs for TWO YEARS, this is how the stance was. Still sky high for a 3.5" kit. Those are 31" Kumho MTs.

And this is how it sat when I first did the 5.5" kit, aka 1.5" shackles and 0.5" UBEs. (best pic I have, was measuring for shocks and it's already started to flex so the back really sat about 1" or so higher). Those are the geigh 33" BFG ATs.

Facebook is being retarded so I can't get the last link for how it sits now. But it's pretty sagged out. Mine sits as high as a 3.5" kit now with the shackles and UBEs. Definitely due to axlewrap.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i agree colin, Travis even had the same issure with the re's in his rig, BTW guys DPG>RE

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmm so that red 2 door of colins is a clean twin of mine

its weird to see one like that not all beat to hell

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

silly question, did the nv4500 ever come behind a dodge 360? im guessing they would of in the 2500 or 3500 platform

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

BDS = :D

And does anyone have a front passenger seat belt assembly for a pre-95 2 dr that they want to sell?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah so colins old 2 dr looks kindof like mine does now... Except cleaner. I mean, I hope to clean mine up soon (lawn edging flares don't help with the looks ) but I gotta finish everything else before I concern myself with asthetics, except mine doesn't have the stripes and it may just be the lighting but I feel like mine is a slightly lighter red.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wow studying for my marketing exam tomorrow is REALLY boring. maybe i'll just go to sleep or something

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin, you are retarded, I don't even know what point you are trying to make?
Your original incorrect statement was that RE springs don't settle. They do, maybe yours didn't, but they do.

All I started off with saying is that I've had 2 sets of RE springs, and they have never sat high. My first pair sagged, and my second pair settled, and didn't give me some ridiculous amount of lift like you were saying.

I don't even understand what you're debating about my leafs sagging? Are you trying to tell me that RE's complete kit, and their recommended tire size, is extreme wear and tear? Something happened to my leafs, they sagged prematurely; it wasn't because of any crazy set ups, no axle wrap, or anything like that, it was just a bad set of leafs.

Not a good comparison. Shackle = more leverage.

If you both had the 3.5" kit, that's a good comparison.
What are you talking about, how is that not a good comparison? What leverage are you talking about, and are you telling me a 1" shackle is going to make a 4.5" kit sit lower than a 3.5" kit? Cause that's a load of bull right there.

The RE kit (THEIR designed kit, no modifications done to the kit, only their components) between the 4.5" and 3.5" share the same leafs. The 4.5" kit has a longer shackle to make up the height difference. How can you honestly say that two vehicles with the same leafsprings, with mine having a bigger shackle, not being a good comparison to show how my leafs sagged?

32s vs 31s. I'm guessing your tires were also wider.
32x11.5 BFG A/T's, he has 31x10.5 MT Baja Claws. What is that one inch width the reason why my Jeep squatted in the rear?

What point? Those pictures don't prove anything.

n41902041_31104473_496585.jpg

Looks like everything is level, the rear leafs aren't SKY HIGH, and looks like a normal lift.

And this is how it sat when I first did the 5.5" kit, aka 1.5" shackles and 0.5" UBEs. (best pic I have, was measuring for shocks and it's already started to flex so the back really sat about 1" or so higher). Those are the geigh 33" BFG ATs.

n41902041_30882547_9392.jpg

And this is a TERRIBLE picture for any comparison, as your front tire is on that damn flatbed, so of course your Jeep is going to be flexing and forcing that rear corner we see down. Also, you have bigger tires, so of course its going to look like it is sitting lower, there is more tire in the wheel well.

Facebook is being retarded so I can't get the last link for how it sits now. But it's pretty sagged out. Mine sits as high as a 3.5" kit now with the shackles and UBEs. Definitely due to axlewrap.
How are you measuring lift? I highly doubt your rear is at 3.5" of lift right now, you would be pretty much sitting on those 35's.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Does it really matter? Your springs sagged/settled/grew a vagina, Colin's gave him more lift than advertised. Done, over, move on. They're just Jeeps that you smash off trees, not a race car where an inch of hight can throw off it's aerodynamics...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So in other news, I noticed while driving up to Travis's tonight that the Briarwood has been running over 210 lately. I don't know why it has been doing it? I notice it a lot when I am in my parking garage that the temps get up, as well as when I was on the highway sitting in traffic.

Colin and I are having a discussion, if you don't like it all you have to do is move on to the next post.

My temp gauge thingy never worked. If my Jeep decides it doesn't want to run... that probably means it's overheating. If it is running nicely (albeit with a bunch of disconcerting sounds as it typically did/does) that means it's not overheating. :D

2 letters: PM. .!.:D.!. Even I started using PMs rather than this thread and that's saying alot :rof:
