Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
Colin, you are retarded, I don't even know what point you are trying to make?
Your original incorrect statement was that RE springs don't settle. They do, maybe yours didn't, but they do.
All I started off with saying is that I've had 2 sets of RE springs, and they have never sat high. My first pair sagged, and my second pair settled, and didn't give me some ridiculous amount of lift like you were saying.
I don't even understand what you're debating about my leafs sagging? Are you trying to tell me that RE's complete kit, and their recommended tire size, is extreme wear and tear? Something happened to my leafs, they sagged prematurely; it wasn't because of any crazy set ups, no axle wrap, or anything like that, it was just a bad set of leafs.
Not a good comparison. Shackle = more leverage.
If you both had the 3.5" kit, that's a good comparison.
What are you talking about, how is that not a good comparison? What leverage are you talking about, and are you telling me a 1" shackle is going to make a 4.5" kit sit lower than a 3.5" kit? Cause that's a load of bull right there.
The RE kit (THEIR designed kit, no modifications done to the kit, only their components) between the 4.5" and 3.5" share the same leafs. The 4.5" kit has a longer shackle to make up the height difference. How can you honestly say that two vehicles with the same leafsprings, with mine having a bigger shackle, not being a good comparison to show how my leafs
sagged?
32s vs 31s. I'm guessing your tires were also wider.
32x11.5 BFG A/T's, he has 31x10.5 MT Baja Claws. What is that one inch width the reason why my Jeep squatted in the rear?
I also drove around my red 2-door when I first got it with weight in it. Also wheeled it about every other weekend. They only started sagging when I bumped it up to 5.5" (aka longer shackle, bigger tires, more gearing = axlewrap).
Finally, to prove my point: PICTURES.
What point? Those pictures don't prove anything.
My old red 2-door. After I had driven around and wheeled with the springs for TWO YEARS, this is how the stance was. Still sky high for a 3.5" kit. Those are 31" Kumho MTs.
Looks like everything is level, the rear leafs aren't SKY HIGH, and looks like a normal lift.
And this is how it sat when I first did the 5.5" kit, aka 1.5" shackles and 0.5" UBEs. (best pic I have, was measuring for shocks and it's already started to flex so the back really sat about 1" or so higher). Those are the geigh 33" BFG ATs.
And this is a TERRIBLE picture for any comparison, as your front tire is on that damn flatbed, so of course your Jeep is going to be flexing and forcing that rear corner we see down. Also, you have bigger tires, so of course its going to look like it is sitting lower, there is more tire in the wheel well.
Facebook is being retarded so I can't get the last link for how it sits now. But it's pretty sagged out. Mine sits as high as a 3.5" kit now with the shackles and UBEs. Definitely due to axlewrap.
How are you measuring lift? I highly doubt your rear is at 3.5" of lift right now, you would be pretty much sitting on those 35's.
