THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Settle /= sag. Two different things. Settling is when you first get a spring and wear it in for a few weeks and it finally sits where it was designed to. Sag is when you've overworked a spring or it's finally worn out and it sits below where it was designed to.

So again, my RE springs (coil or leaf) never settled as they always sat high, but they did sag due to axlewrap and a longer shackle (more leverage) once I lifted to 5.5" and put on the 33s-35s.

And once again, the real world is not Colin's perfect little "everything goes right for me" world.

I've had 2 sets of RE leafs. The first set settled after a while. They then strait up sagged. (I have a picture of my friends RE 3.5 kit that sits higher in the rear than my 4.5" kit)

I replaced those, correctly wore in the leafs, and I have photographic proof to show you that my replacement leafs are not the same height now as when I first bought them. Standing back a distance from the vehicle, you could see a gap between the gas tank and rear axle when they were first put on. That gap is no longer there.

Not sure I agree. All springs will settle, it is the nature of the beast.
I agree with your statement.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I see what you were going for now.
Ain't gonna be a waste at all, comments like this only further pour layers of concrete on the plans. :D
A waste would be keeping that Jeep limited with a D30.

Plus, come one, who doesn't want their "other" in a good 3.5" lifted XJ with 33"s and D44s packed with 4.88s and lockers for a strictly DD or Class 6 pounder?
I am 100% serious and Colin knows this.
That's essentially my XJ but with better gearing, lockers, and axles - and up to now, the same usage description due to things begleying themselves every time I fix something else. I'd support it.

EDIT: perhaps "MrSimoning themselves" would be a more appropriate term in this case... seeing as his MJ is cursed the same way my XJ is. Things break for no reason just prior to runs.

Let me ask you this. Did your friend have a longer shackle? What size tires? Any gearing? Lockers? How much did he wheel?

Did you have all your gearing and lockers when you compared? 4.5" kit uses the 3.5" leaves with longer shackles.

You didn't read my post Mr. Excuses. The only reasons I've seen RE springs SAG (meaning sit BELOW their designed HEIGHT) is due to different occurances (i.e. axlewrap, overloading, inverting them, etc.). The fact that your kit sat below a 3.5" kit means that it had SAGGED.

For reference, my brothers springs still haven't settled in his kit. Still sits really goddamn high. Stock shackle, 4.10s, 31s, no locker. Doesn't overload it, no axlewrap, and doesn't wheel it.

You clearly didn't read mine

I know the 4.5" kit uses the same springs with a shackle, that is why I was saying it was a good comparison.

This was when the only modifications I had were the 4.5" kit and 32's. No gearing, lockers (My first time with lockers was that trip we took, remember?), axlewrap, or anything else.
He was on 31's with no lockers/gearing, and stock shackle. We wheeled about the same amount, our Jeeps were actually almost identical.

Did he put weight in the rear when he first got it and drove around to break them in?
Driving it only on the road isn't going to cycle the leafs through their range, so of course they aren't really going to wear in and settle too much.

Colin's leaf springs look like ~ while my leaf spring look like ) rotated clockwise 90 degrees. This means that Colin is megafat (FACT).

Colin's leafs were not retrieved from a Carmelo Supervehicle. Therefore your scientific analysis holds no ground.

wow, does this mean instead of clubbing her, having your way with her and dropping her off you clubbed/drugged her, had your way with her and are currently keeping her in your basement?
