Anthony, there is NO WAY you can hammer one of those collars on if they are anything like the D44, trust me.
At my first co-op, we had this gigantic arbor press in our full machine shop, and one of the guys in the shop, (who constantly wore shirts with cut off sleeves to show off his most likely steroid induced muscles, so its not like it was a weakling like me doing it) was hanging off the press, and even bent the handle to the press, and we didn't even get the thing to seat even 1/16 of an inch.
I took it to a machine shop, and he had a b*tch of a time pressing it on, I actually saw the whole collar bend before it slid over the shaft. When it finally did, it made a loud pop, and there was a sliver of metal that was sheared off the collar, so sharp the guy cut his hand on it when he went to pick it up.
I have been somewhat doubtful if the 12 ton press I have will get the job done.
