THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh by the way, speaking of the pickle... I think I've pretty much decided that I'm going to get the EVAP junk taken care of on the jeep, get that beeotch a sticker, then sell the pickle and buy some toob. Any objections?
do it.

it's near the gas tank
yup. i crushed it once too. ask me how i know where it is. $90 new from the dealer. :banghead:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

All you can carry is next weekend, evap junk is lightweight, Holland's is fairly near you. What parts do you need (full list)? I can add them to my list of junk to pick up.

I just hope the evap canister on the 97+ is in the engine compartment, I forget if it is.

hey thanks for the offer. I didn't realize it was next weekend, that would be friggin' awesome!!!! If I could get the evap setup off a 97 (possibly 96 as well??), which is the canister under the hood, a line that goes to the fuel tank, and some extra lines n shit under the hood, that would be so great. The 98(and I believe later years) has the EVAP box underneath the jeep won't work for me because it's in the way of the 4 link. What time will you be going there? Are you going back before the all you can carry day?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Tilt deck is not "needed" but its very nice when you have an old muscle car that sits somewhat close to the ground. You don't have to worry about scraping the headers or anything.

Just throwing that out there for Bill's GTO build.

:D

Nova clears just fine on mine thank you very much. Although i dont use them that often, its got nice long retractable ramps, not that flapper thing you got

:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

not the 97. All of bill's stuff was under the hood, and that's what I need.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't know how much I'll be getting, I'm basically just planning to sell the pickle, then call the steel place and say "Gimmie $678.34 worth of 1.75 .120 DOM" ...basically, whatever I get from the car, I'll just get that much steel :D

I like this attitude

For a 96 I can pull it in no time flat, for the 97 (or 98?) up it'll be a royal pain it seems, unless there happens to be a suitable junker stacked on top on Saturday. I don't generally make it out there because I work (at minimum) 9-5, wish I could though :( I love that yard. I'll see what I can do.

I'm not sure if you can transplant a 96's evap system into a 98, though I guess you probably could since the fuel pressure regulator was moved to the pump/tank assembly in 96. Totally would not work (without a lot of mods) on a 95 though.

understood. I want everything for the under-the-hood setup, in short. I need not only the canister, but all the lines etc. Right now on my Jeep everything is just cut/plugged... If you could do that I'd gladly throw ya a $20 and a sandwich from pano's :viking:

No problem, I should be able to pull that. I was gonna ask for 10, but 20 and Pano's works too :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yep, that's how much I'd appreciate it. Heh. Hell, if your really wanna earn the $20/sandwich, I'll drive the Jeep to Hollands and you can show me where all the shit goes! I've got a minimal understanding of how it all works. Minimal at best :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was planning on throwing some masking tape on each line with a note of where the hell it goes (I hate figuring out where evap lines go) - that work?

I have a 96 XJ and a 96 FSM, so if you really get stuck installing it, I can either take pics or look it up.

you're so cool

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i want to go home :( no wanty to be at worky

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When tapping: I have read that typically 60% thread depth should be sufficient (and you don't gain much additional strength with > 60% depth), though I did read that some people cut 75% depth for good measure. So when tapping threads, does a greater thread depth make it much more difficult to tap?

The DOM I have right now is the right size to to get 75% thread depth so that works nicely, however if it is significantly easier to tap at 60% thread depth it may be worth drilling out the tube a bit (esp since the TRE will be threaded in quite a bit). Then again maybe I should keep it at 75% since it is my steering. :dunno:

I really just want to avoid damaging or wearing out a tap, so if I can make my life easier and prolong the life of the tap (with no negative side effects) I could just run a 60% depth. Anyone got some words of wisdom?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

most threads are 75% threads... i would just stick with what you have. just use lube and go slow.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin, when are you planning to buy tube? Maybe if we buy combine our orders it would be a bit cheaper? :dunno: I don't know how much I'll be getting, I'm basically just planning to sell the pickle, then call the steel place and say "Gimmie $678.34 worth of 1.75 .120 DOM" ...basically, whatever I get from the car, I'll just get that much steel :D

I'm not planning on ordering tube until early fall/late summer at best.

Sorry d00d :(

Yeah but with this you don't need 20' long ramps. And with the ramps folded up it protects the back from road debris and if someone decided to smash the back of the trailer they don't flie into your cargo.

:D

and you are still accused of loosing the pin and thingy on one side

:D

Yeah, I was going to buy a 5/8" piece of solid stock and see if I could pursuade you to use your torch. I want to heat it and bend it over like these were. Plausible?

As for the thingy, I'm going to get the rock climbers type pin thing. That way you don't have to screw/unscrew the damn thing every time you drop the ramps.

carabiner?

that's what...

Unless it needs to be some goofy strong alloy, I can handle that, I have a 3 footer of 5/8" that I only need about 2 feet of. Hell, I can probably bend it without heat... I bent my 1/2" to make some exhaust hangars with just my hands, a vice, and a hammer.
