Depending on how loosely you define "worked on" I would have between enough for cheap lunch at McDonalds and a slightly less cheap lunch at subway.

Depending on how you define "worked on", I'd be getting anywhere from enough for a nice dinner somewhere to around 10 grand. I was a quicklube grease monkey for 2 years, we did about 30 cars a day on average and I had my hands on most of them.

doooo itttt

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

He doesn't know if he wants 4.56 or 4.10s. I say 4.56s. He can still do 75 mph at ~2600 rpms. The keisler has a .64 OD ratio. Yeah, that's right .64.

If you want to play around with the grimmjeeper calculator, here's the gear ratios for the trans...

1 - 2.87
2 - 1.89
3 - 1.28
4 - 1.00
5 - .64

Rear tires = 275/60/15

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Where's the motor going to start making it's most useable power and where will it begin to start revving too high? I know personally I like to have the Jeep running around 27-2800 RPMs on the high way at 75mph. If it likes to run like the 4.0s I'd even consider 4.88s or just stick with 4.56s

Yeah should have mentioned that.

First, it's a 440 (bigblock aka doesn't like high rpms). Anything over ~2600 rpms is starting to get out of it's cruising range.

Second, he'll be shifting it at 5500 rpms when he's beating on it.

Third, it's not a drag car so he doesn't need gears that are too ridiculous. 440s have **** tons of low end torque and my uncle told him it will start making useable power at 1000 rpms all the way to 5500, maybe more, not sure yet. If he had a dyno sheet for the engine it would be easier to match the gearset but we're not rich enough to own an engine dyno.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I like to cruise around 2500rpm, so I probably should figure out how to end up at 2500rpm in overdrive with 33s at ~75 at some point. calculator time...

EDIT: that grimmjeeper calculator is fricken awesome, wish I'd realized it existed sooner. Looks like 2500rpm with my 285/75r16s, 4.10s, and AW-4 will put me at 79mph in overdrive. I guess I can live with that... not sure about acceleration though.

And to add to mine, I will be going 4.88s with the plan that the Jeep will see a lot of rock time on 33s. And I want to rape off the line, but I don't care what happens after 30mph.

My XJ hits 3k rpms right at 80 mph.

Gearing is perfect. I usually end up cruising right at 70 mph.

Granted that's with 35s.
