THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah.... no. :D

So, what's the consensus? Tom Woods or High Angle?
No need to start bashing, if you must... PM me.

Oh, and NO I can't reuse a stocker out back.
haha, figured. You probably knew this but if I make a post without using the shift or punctuation keys, I'm pulling your leg...

Both look like good, well respected shops :dunno: I've never seen anyone rip on either one. I really like the look of the full-spline slip joints TW can install, I've never liked the fact that a stock front shaft only has a small length of splines. On that I much prefer the stock Ford Explorer rear driveshaft design, they use a fully splined slip joint.

Actually, that reminds me, I need to see if I can cut down a stock Explorer rear driveshaft and use that somehow with an SYE, those shafts are way beefier than an XJ stock front shaft. Another vehicle to jack up at the junkyard this Saturday I guess.

My friend Scott with the YJ has shafts from high angle, they've got about 12" of slip in them, so no worries there

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Useless unless you want to run the 8 bolt lug pattern.
ah, good to know.

You buying?
Otherwise those aren't in the cards right now.
I need a driveshaft and some UHMW first.

Thanks for the link though!
no prob.

i'm not sure which driveshaft i'd go with (TW vs HA).. probably TW though. I saw ned's high angle's after he landed the front one on a rock (not very harshly, either) and it is totally fubar after only 2 runs, but that could be just a coincidence of hard wheeling with new parts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Got my MB dial indicator and in/lb torque wrench yesterday.

Time to **** up my brother's gears in his charger.

:D

I checked endplay on the transmission last night with the feeler gauge method last night, wish I didn't:cool:

Oh, and NO I can't reuse a stocker out back.

When I get my final drivetrain in(one tons) i'll be going with Jesse. He deals with alot more hardcore guys it seems. I called every local and reputable online place I could find a phone number for. Jesse had the same prices and if I remember right his prices seemed to end up with a little bit thicker tubing. Like I said though that's just based of conversations. The guy I talked to at Tom Woods was kind of eh.

F*ck Airgas for closing at 4pm and not being open on the weekends.

I wonder if anyone needs drop brackets and adjustable lowers/uppers?

:dunno: apparently you do enough to wish you hadn't checked it.

Nah, I know this book is wicked anal about everything. It even has a front end play check where factory specs didn't have one. If it's "off" they recommend using nickels to somehow shim it(starting skimming over it after I read nickels). Judging by the amount of people just slapping these transmissions together I feel comfortable enough. Not too mention doing this whole thing was pretty fun so I wouldn't mind having to pull it out and rebuild it again. I don't have extra shims to fix it so why worry about it?

...Way I see it is it's not crazy excessive and I'm sure if I did build it too last 200,000 miles it wouldn't see that anyway before I had to pull it apart again to put it in yet another case so I can run a big block power

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's all I saw. I have selective vision.

I don't even care what kind. Chevy, dodge, olds, caddy or whatever as long as the engine is large in size I will put it in. When I have one tons I will have a full drivetrain to support it and I have plenty of room in my engine bay.... I'd be stupid not to!

I love how fast people start calling you when you post something on CL. I already had a call an hour after putting my bike up.

I've only sold one thing on CL and I won't do it again. Way to many sketchy people out there. I'm glad I at least only used a junk email account.
