THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you are talking about doing disks on a D44, forget about a bearing puller and being able to reuse the bearings. No way you are getting the metal collar off without cutting it, and without screwing up the old bearing.

I've heard of people cutting the spacer or the retaining plate and sliding it over the axleshaft with no ill effects. I've never tried it though so no clue if it actually works.

i think thats the right one. but i got mine from MSC and it has 6 things to grab the spindle. i kniw it doesnt get torqued a lot but i figure it cant hurt

buut that is only 10 bux...mine was 30ish i think

Mine is a 4-prong spindle nut (80's F350).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

is this the right socket for the spindle nut on my 60? its a 87 60 if that matters, will i need any other spindle sockets?

Rob, I'm pretty sure that one is for the D44s. We just used that to pull apart a TTB D44.

IIRC, it is these that work for the D60s:

I can double check when I get home. Look in with a flashlight and make sure it is the 4 prong. Also check your D70, that will have the same setup.

I bought the whole kit which includes five out of the six (don't have the odd Isuzu one). I only paid about $45 for the kit, which wasn't bad considering most out parts stores want, like someone mentioned, about $30 ea. I could have got it from Summit, but at the time I would have had to wait and pay shipping. This way I've got 'em all too. Heck, between helping out friends and for my own use they've all gotten used at this point except for the odd Ford one that has the extra center stub.

Edit: Here's the link to what I've got: http://www.amazon.com/Alltrade-648636-Spindle-Socket-Tool/dp/B0028QGT72
Odd it says AllTrade now, mine is labeled as Powerbuilt. The sockets themselves are exactly the same Summit Racing carries. Part numbers and everything.
My bet is there are a few companies selling them under a bunch of names.

i kniw it doesnt get torqued a lot but i figure it cant hurt
Good luck torquing them with a screwdriver and hammer. Really the socket is needed to do it correctly.

^this.

Also no proof=no love.

:D
:(
Of course I don't have much to prove from this weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm wondering if it's worthwhile (price, time into it, etc) to make my own cabling or to buy 5-90s total wiring kit that replaces all the grounds, upgrades the alternator output (with new fuse and deletes the fusible link) and starter cable, etc.

I think the total for everything is around $170.

I know that the cost of the cable alone would probably hit about $70, and I think the 175A alternator fuse get's pretty expensive.

Thoughts? I want to do something now while the harness is out so I can route everything cleanly.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not sure what you have planned, but I have 25 feet (or is it 50? I forget...) each of #2 and #4 welding cable. Cost me $130 shipped for all of it. How much do you need? If I have the right sizes and whatnot, I'm willing to trade for that bumper.

if you want to say you rewired your whole jeep, don't buy it. if you want to plug n play and fagggeeddaboudid then i say buy the harness. i'm not sure what i'd do. i'd like to learn more about wiring, so i'd be tempted to do it despite the fact that wiring is boring to me.

Use a west marine fuse
http://www.westmarine.com/1/1/24770-fuse-mega-300-amp-from-blue-sea-systems.html
and fuse block
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/47515/377%20710/0/5001%20fuse%20block/Primary%20Search/mode%20matchallpartial/0/0?N=377%20710&Ne=0&Ntt=5001%20fuse%20block&Ntk=Primary%20Search&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Nao=0&Ns=0&keyword=5001%20fuse%20block&isLTokenURL=true&storeNum=5002&subdeptNum=9&classNum=119

That's what I plan on doing. Don't really need the 175A, should just get one good enough for your alt. I have a 118A alt so I will be picking up the 125A fuse. I need to look into 5-90s setup but I think you should be able to do it a decent bit cheaper than $170. IIRC 4AWG should be enough to flow 118A, maybe 2AWG. I will be using that to upgrade my cables. Should only need maybe 5 feet of wire to do the main cables.

Edit: And ken, how much would you want per foot of 2? I may be buying soon so if you want to just unload some of it then I would be willing to pay up for it.

I'll let you know. Maybe one of these nights (or next weekend) I'll take out all the wiring I'll be upgrading and then see how much I'll need.

Gotta figure out the alt + feed circuit as well.

The doctor will see you now.

I didnt plan too accordingly, the long side shaft wont slide out all the way  stoopid wall

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

even i, hulk's offspring, underestimated moving this thing around. i knew i would need a hand getting it on the table and had dundy help me the other day. what i didnt expect was it being such a bitch just to lift another foot to put in on jackstands, alone.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just pick the whole bench up and move it over a few feet? Can't see anything on the left side in the pic, something else in the way?

EDIT: I would have stuck the hydro jack on the bench and done it the lazy way

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i was thinking im just gunna throw my hi lift inbetween the bench and wall to move it over to pull it. the table is meant to be centered under the opening of the cabinets above.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i was thinking of pulling the shafts and hubs on the ground, but i didnt wanna chance moving the axle around with the spindles/threads jsut chilling out at the ends. i would hate for the 14b to fall off the table and destroy the spindles on impact.
