THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That axle did not have any backing plates or brakes.

But yes, that was pretty impressive, he literally curled the axle.

that was funny. im standing there and i knew you two were gunna have trouble loading the axles into the back of his xj. i was gunna wait and jsut watch you guys try and do it. finally i got bored and realized you were gunna ask me for help so i jsut decided to man handle them both in

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so i just had an argument about different types of welding with a guy here at work. he claims he bought a mig/tig machine at home depot, and made it sound like it didn't cost that much. he seems to think that tig is anything that requires shielding gas :gee: and i couldn't persuade him otherwise. when i described to him what tig welding actually is, he said "oh, you mean stick welding?" goddam analysis engineers shouldn't try to learn how to work on things.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i was doing curls with marks d35 yesterday. we should have an axle throwing contest, maybe like just a d35 housing. i wanna see who would place second.

curl the 14 bolt and ill be impressed :worship:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There is a really nice looking M715 (I think, it might have been a J20, I was 75% asleep when I saw it) parked about two or three miles from Rausch Creek on rt209. It's painted metallic blue as I recall. I drove by it at ~3AM Sunday while warming the MJ up so I could get to sleep, wish I had remembered to go back and take pics.

What, was it too cold to sleep in a hammock?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

no, it wasn't too cold. I was quite warm and comfortable.

40mph wind gusts, however, have a way of keeping you from sleeping... this was no gentle rocking, I woke up at approximately a 45 degree angle, which quickly became a 45 degree angle in the other direction. Somehow I managed to sleep for 3 hours with that going on.

Also, the asshats in the next campsite over had their generator running on auto, so every half hour I had a 2-stroke chugging away 20 feet from my head.

Ah, yeah, that'll do it too :laugh3:

those types of people are fun to toy with. in the end, its always fun laughing at them. i love the guys that are diehard stick weldering fans for everything. SOME are cool and can do some sweet stuff, but most are fools about welding. a quick way to shutup a stick welder is to talk about welding fenders and bodywork.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

it wasn't about that. he thought that his mig setup with shielding gas was welding tig and that mig was only done with flux core wire. it was just annoying. after about 5 minutes i STFU and decided it wasn't worth it and i'm going to let him live in his own little world.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You should have someone bring a tig down and ask him to stop by and give you a hand with some tig welding since you figure he is more experienced with tig than you are

Edit: or do you have a tig, I cant remember who does but I didn't think you did.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

no, it's mark that does... i wish i did.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

thanks for the tips bill, ill look at the 60 tonite, and about the 70, it uses a 2-9/16th socket, only place i can find one is summit
Rob, I'm pretty sure that one is for the D44s. We just used that to pull apart a TTB D44.

IIRC, it is these that work for the D60s:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WMR-W1269/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WMR-W1270/

I can double check when I get home. Look in with a flashlight and make sure it is the 4 prong. Also check your D70, that will have the same setup.

I bought the whole kit which includes five out of the six (don't have the odd Isuzu one). I only paid about $45 for the kit, which wasn't bad considering most out parts stores want, like someone mentioned, about $30 ea. I could have got it from Summit, but at the time I would have had to wait and pay shipping. This way I've got 'em all too. Heck, between helping out friends and for my own use they've all gotten used at this point except for the odd Ford one that has the extra center stub.

Edit: Here's the link to what I've got: http://www.amazon.com/Alltrade-648636-Spindle-Socket-Tool/dp/B0028QGT72
Odd it says AllTrade now, mine is labeled as Powerbuilt. The sockets themselves are exactly the same Summit Racing carries. Part numbers and everything.
My bet is there are a few companies selling them under a bunch of names.

Good luck torquing them with a screwdriver and hammer. Really the socket is needed to do it correctly.

:(
Of course I don't have much to prove from this weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that's almost exactly 65mm, any chance you happen to have a 65mm socket around? (haha, that's real likely, right?)

Christ, I only realized just how big 2 9/16" is when I calculated that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks, looking at it now...

I think it's about time I order the rebuild parts for my new trackbar, too.
did you tear it apart to verify it needs a rebuild, i had no issues besides the greaseable bolt not takin grease

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i was offerd $150 to install a locker in a 10bolt of a coworkers cutlass
