Anyone got the good vs bad on the JKS trackbar relo brackets?
I think I have some plate kicking around that I was going to use to make my own bracket when I do the high-steer (along with just shortening the stock trackbar for the time being)... but for $40 it might be worth buying one from them.
Edit: And does XKUT make good taps? Looking at getting these. If not XKUT who would you recommend?

ha worrd i have another on campus interview, next week... for Raytheon of all places! It's not specified which location is hiring mechanical engineers, but its looking good.
I'm hoping to hear back from DCS Corp soon though (supposed to this week) and I should be hearing back from Cummins soon too. I even think Cummins called me today but it was during class and they didn't leave a message - it's the only place / person who has called me from a private number in the past few months. Maybe they're trying to catch me off guard, since they said the next step would be getting me in contact with a technical manager, and to see if my technical knowledge is up to snuff.
maybe i'll spend some time on diesel forums to brush up on any diesel knowledge / technologies

Just finished building some shelves for the storage unit, that should help a bit. half inch plywood, cinder blocks, and 2x4s work rather nicely, I'm pretty sure I could put about a thousand pounds on each of these shelves without them collapsing.

(seriously though, pay off loans. Loans suck)

at the moment DCS seems the most interesting. i'd like to see the shop they have out by Devens (where i'd be working) and the kind of toys they have there. hopefully one of these bad larrys:

GOD DAMN. Note to self: Do not order steel online. Just looked at some online and it came out to like $63 for a 10 ft length. Not bad... with $350 shipping. :gee: it would only be $280 if I got it shipped to the father business
On that note, where around the MA/RI/etc are is good for DOM? I don't mind a bit of a drive to get something if I can get the size I am looking for. I just googled around where I live and most places seem to be like turner and specialize in structural rather than tube. Anyone got a steel yard or 2 they would recommend I call?
Edit: and that would be awesome to work on. When I was interning at lockheed martin back in '06 I worked in the countermeasures dept, one item that was worked on was Chaff and similar stuff. I was supposed to go out on a boat for a day off the coast of northern MA and test fire chaff for a day but got screwed out of it. the intern before me screwed off all the time and didn't take any data or anything when he went, so they lost a ton of useful time on the boat, and the higher ups didn't want to risk it again even though my bosses reassured them that I wasn't a complete waste.

We tested some of those for a project down in Fort Bennings, Georgia earlier this year.
I hope I get to graduate from HMMWVs to something like that.
Interesting you mentioned it because I just talked to my friend today who was on that project and he mentioned one of the guys on his team that drove it had it up to 70 mph on the highway. Thing was pegged.

well... they don't do live fire stuff but the guy i interviewed with was talking about going out to Redstone Arsenal, Yuma Proving Grounds, etc etc to do on site testing. I guess their Harvard MA location (right next to Ft. Devens) does mostly support work for ARDEC, which is the the army's R+D division that buys crap like that and works on it.

Hey anthony, I'm assuming you cleaned your transmission before you rebuilt it. What did you use? I just poured a bottle of paint thinner on mine because I found it in the garage... I'm aiming for rebuilding it Sunday.

I thought about cleaning just the inside but when I clean things I make them brand new.
Example:
A 30+ year old 44 stripped to bare metal. It's hard to tell in the picture but it's actually shiny.
I have some of this paint left over too

carmelo: I scrub things with old nasty gasoline I have in a 5 gallon pail from my old gas tank, once that has taken off the really heavy stuff I spray them down with acetone or brake cleaner whichever is closer to my hand. Works great, it took me like 30 seconds and only ~1/3 can of brake cleaner to get ALL the gear lube off a d30 carrier + pinion gear.
