THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Regarding hot salsa... I'm seriously disappointed in my family. I consider hot salsa to be pretty mild. Even when I ask for the hot stuff my parents come back with medium. I can't complain since we have salsa on hand all the time and now apparently it's as necessary as ketchup and mustard around here (pretty sure that started when my buddies and I made everything with salsa and we were always asking for it). Lately I have added hot sauce after the fact to my salsa.

Also, my favorite salsa (other than home made stuff) is walmart sams choice brand. That sh*t is good.

Why does ballistic take so long to ship stuff. I want to order threaded inserts from them but I don't want to wait 2 months. Maybe I will order and if I don't have a tracking # in a week I will call and cancel. See if that gets their ass in gear (aka get them to say "sorry, will have them shipped tomorrow"). If it doesn't I really will cancel.

Edit: Does summit carry threaded rod ends? idk the technical term for them so idk what to search for :gee: Still bugs me that ruffstuff requires a 1-1/8" ID. I may call tomorrow because I read somewhere that someone ordered inserts for 1" ID tube and got it from ruffstuff :dunno: All I can find on their site is the 1-1/8" ID ones. I guess I could live with that 1/16" less clearance... I guess. Or I have been actually VERY tempted to man up and buy the XKUT 7/8-18 reamer kit for like $160 or $170.

Anyone else looking to do 1-ton steering who would want to pay maybe $50 to get a tie rod and drag link threaded (tie rod and drag link made of 1-3/8 OD, 0.250 wall)? I have read that 7/8" ID stuff works well for threading for TREs :dunno:. If I can find interest I may very well buy them.

No problem. I'll probably just order a $40 johnny joint from summit in a couple weeks... That way, I spend a few bucks less, and I don't lose $50 now, and then wait a month for them to do anything. Shitheads.
if you need help with part numbers let me know cuz i know's dem

Don't waste the week. They won't get their ass in gear. This is a fact. Sean ordered a bushing to replace the junk one on the upper link in the red Jeep a week before I bought it, and he finally cancelled the order a couple weeks ago and apologized to me. It's no big deal to me, like I posted just a little while ago I'll just order a johnny joint from Summit instead, no big deal. But Ballistic's shipping has and always will suck dick. I have ZERO faith in them whatsoever. Maybe six months ago or so they had this big announcement about how proud they were that they revamped their shipping department and had a million promises about how everything was going to be silky smooth from then on. As we can see from Sean and Anthony's experiences, they're full of shit. Good products from them, but it's not even worth the hassle.

Nope, the person you talked to wasn't using 1-ton TRE's in that case. I talked to Dan for the very same reason, and he said that he doesn't sell those inserts because he thinks that there isn't enough wall thickness on the insert part, and when it gets welded the threads are damaged. So I ordered the steering kit from Ballistic when I got all my other bracketry etc. They worked fine, and Dan's a great guy with awesome customer service etc, but IMHO it's stupid for him not to sell those inserts. Seems to me that he's potentially losing quite a large customer base, for no good reason... My .02

Good to know. Maybe I will just skip that step in the process and either order the taps, or go with the 1/8" larger tube and ruffstuff inserts (I thought the wall thickness may have been Dan's reason for not carrying the 1" ID inserts, just never got that assumption confirmed). I did find a few other companies with inserts but I have no feedback on those so idk if I want to risk it and run their ends.

Agreed. Though I do understand his reasoning for only providing what he things are worthwhile. I was (and still am) very tempted to run his inserts with a larger tube.

My only concern with inserts is still that I read quite a bit where people on pirate said to run a tap through the threads after welding to clean them out (and I heard the same here). If I am going to end up buying taps to clean the threads anyway why not just get the taps in the first place and drill/tap straight into the tube. May save me $40+ shipping in the end.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmm, I wonder when Ballistic go so bad? I got all my stuff in no time a couple years ago when I used their stuff for my steering and trackbar.

Damnit, I WANT TO WHEEL SO BAD RIGHT NOW. Damn you Dangerous Rides.

I cant wait to wheel either. Once my steering is done I have one goal and one goal only... breaking in the gears. Then I will find the nearest rock and drive over it and [probably] land hard on a rocker and break sh*t. Then I will bitch and moan and whine about how I can't wheel again because I have to fix my rocker with high clearance ones after I plate my unibody. Then I will find something else to break and have more excuses.

That's how I roll. Except once the gears are broken in I will at least be able to drive the Jeep and tow a trailer. Then I will show up to wheeling events with a dirtbike even though I can't wheel the Jeep. And while transporting said dirtbike behind my Jeep I will look like the fawking man. even though we all know it's not true at all

when I did the steering on the 44, I just had scott weld it slowly, had the TREs in at the time, and just did a small bead, and as it cooled I worked the TRE back and forth. Then when it was cooled down, did another little bead, so on and so forth... I guess they're a little sticky or whatever, but it was never a problem for me :dunno:

hell, idk if I ever saw 2... I gotta get on that sh*t. time to check if it's insta-view on netflix.

Edit: and I assume it will be forced 3D which supposedly sucks. Avatar was true 3D. Alice in wonderland was what I call 'forced' 3D. I have heard that if it's true 3d it's amazing vs forced it is meh. I haven't seen either in 3D so I'm not one to talk... just saying
