THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Plus, F*CK YEAH HE'S MCLOVIN...

 AWESOME.

Oh btw Mark, I'm proud of you slapping shims in.

That's how my D44 looked when I took it apart after I got water in it. Did you ever dunk it or was the vent not hooked up or something? The water obviously didn't cool mine properly so the gears got a little blue looking like yours from the heat.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

5 months?!? Mine took 2-3 weeks which I thought felt like forever... but that was because parts weren't playing nice. Where are you getting 5 months from?
You obviously don't know the pace at which I work. I would be doing the gearing myself. I did the front the other summer, and I really don't have the drive to do that again right now to two axles.

5 months = only being able to work on the weekend, low drive to actually do work, and the inevitable waiting for parts, or stuff going wrong.

Thanks Colin, glad I make you proud.

Ya its probably that damn vent I have on there, (a bolt that has been turned down into a nipple. The first time I opened the case after having my plastic breather on there, I fully understood why people called it a "milkshake" after you get water in the diff.

This wasn't as bad as then, but it still wasn't what I liked to see. I'll be redoing the vengt correclty with an NPT fitting. I have a big list of places to go this morning to get stuff: Home Depot, Airgas, Napa, Sears, CC Axle and Driveshaft...

Mark would run out of the setup paint before he got an acceptable pattern knowing his luck. Plus, he'd probably have to call me everytime he wanted to remove/install the pinion nut.

:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

keith: ATF

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sorry I should've specified. I know it's ATF and I've been doing some searching. Everything I read says ATF +3/+4 and Dextron 3. I know t-cases are not too picky about what you run like the AW4 is, but does it make a difference what I run of those three?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not really, t-cases dont care. I just use whatever i have laying around for the AW4, Dextron 3 right? it makes more sense to stay with the same fuild so you can use your spare bottle for either

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I use Merc/Dex.

I know at least for my 242 the manual says to use that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Okey dokey back to the garage to fill it up and check to make sure I didn't muff anything up.
BTW I unwrapped my biggest christmas present ever last night at my dad's work at 11pm. It's a Chinese drill rig, first one of these on American soil...evar an I got to drive it! :D

It may be Chinese but you open up any panel on that thing, it's all CAT shiz in there.

Haha, that was a great day.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Now that I have done it a couple of times by myself I can confidently say that YOU SLOW:moon:

I had an axle out and back in in just a few hours with breaks. IN THE DARK:guitar:

Then slapped the old axle back in the XJ a few weeks later in what couldn't be more than a hour and a half. :farmer:

GET AT ME DAWG :firedevil
:moon: yeah yeah mister master mechanic :spin1:

I was not aware it was possible to be this sore... somehow I managed to tweak the hell out of my left shoulder last night. Ah well, all the heavy lifting is done. Just nuts and bolts and parts store trips from here out...

I figured he was normal and wheelin a 231 :D

but speaking of 242s, i found one for red jeep. its a later style case so it SHOULD bolt right up to my AX-15 with no problem.

How dare you post that pic and not the other ones.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Check out that rust. I should name the thing Project Tetanus or something

(holy shit, Ken posted pics of something he did to a jeep instead of talking all day from his cube, world's gonna end)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I just looked out my window and saw my neighbor driving around his yard in a golf kart...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe he wanted to go wheelin too?
I looked out like 10 min later and he was still going. It looked like he drove over some roots cause the thing started rockign around a bit. I thought of that :laugh3: I think he may have his grandkids over and they wanted to ride around... but why does he have a golf kart in the first place?
