THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah, I don't really like it. Loud as hell is right, driving down the highway I basically can't hear anything other than wind rushing, and rain/snow makes it worse. It's mostly because I pulled the old one out, realized I shouldn't put it back in till I get the windshield leak sealed up and the rust patched, and said screw it :D

Carpet stays. I'm going to have to pull it up to install the wiring for the power windows + 4WD and whatnot soon, but it's going right back in.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why no heims in steering? :dunno: I'll let you answer rather than testing my google-fu today.

And I wouldn't think that the steering would be TOO low, not like I would need to run misalignment spacers on the tie rod. And I could also run the tie rod over the knuckle and use a WJ knuckle to give the 2nd mount point I think... maybe not, idk. that would just fawk of angles more than they are now.

And if I order now I suppose that I could deal with the wait. Is the wait only on the ballistic joints or are all rod ends long waits too? I dont HAVE to order joints from BF, though I probably would. I was thinking about running something like these if they aren't bad. I haven't looked into reviews or whatnot very much yet.. http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/XM-12-34quot-CrMo-rod-end-w-kevlar-liner_p_1422.html

if you're ordering heims and tube adapters, get it from dan at ruffstuff. period.

the WJ swap is a hell of a lot more than you seem to be aware of. i wouldn't bother with it again.

heims in steering: i dunno, kind of a personal preference. TRE's are tighter, have less slop, and last longer. plenty of people do it with no ill consequences.

Single sheer heims OTK on WJ knuckles :thumbdn:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I told him I'd tow it somewhere as a last resort, but it will waste half a day and I'd only be able to do it on a weekend.

I have a ton of crap going on now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hell no. Tougher to remove and I'm trying to stay as close to stock appearance as possible. Plus I have two MJ headliners (one slightly dirty and scuffed from the JY, one awaiting reupholstering) in my back hall, it seems a waste to not use at least one :D

Now I just have to figure out a good way to make a CB/ham radio bracket that goes between the headliner and the roof, I'm thinking that bending up some 3" 10ga flat stock and screwing it to the leading and trailing roof crossmembers will work nicely.

EDIT: thread is dead, long live the thread. Everyone must be outside working on jeeps instead of stuck in a cube

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

in that case, send em my way. My apartment is practically a warehouse for jeep parts at this point :looney: I've been getting ready to do so many projects, and then being screwed over by the weather, for months now.

All that ends Friday night...
(speaking of which, I doubt I'll need help but if anyone feels like dropping by and shooting the shit, I'll throw some beer in the fridge)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone got any opinions on this kit http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Steering-Kit-34quot-with-High-Misalignment-Spacers_p_1335.html

I was going to pick up just the joints and do it all myself... but then across the kit and figured why the hell not, it's not TOO much more than if I bought the parts separate and got the steel myself. Though I gotta compare the joints they include in the kit to the ones that I was looking at. If the separate joints I was looking at were higher quality than the ones with the kit them I will def buy the stuff myself. :dunno: I was planning on doing heims in my steering sooner than later this summer since it should be pretty simple. Plus if I got it all myself I could just pick up a 20 ft length of whatever and use that for my 3-link whenever I get around to that. It would just leave me with a beefy as hell drag ling and tie rod :laugh3: Hell maybe even make a track bar.

buy my tie rod i have for sale dont wate your money on balistic crap

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmm. the entire root of my right index finger's nail has now turned black... wonder if I get to keep it or if that junkyard run a week ago is gonna cost me one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i got my tooth knocked in about a 1/2 inch yesterday, they had to pop it back in place and now i got some cement like material holding my teeth together, keeping my fingers crossed it will heal and i wont need a fake tooth

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

holy crap. Insurance company apparently appraised the damage to my XJ from the idiot who couldn't parallel park last week... fog lights ($50, ebay, cheap chinese-made crap) and a small dent in the stock bumper (whoopty do, who cares, replacing it sometime anyways) come to $350 in damages. They're cutting me a check for that. I am shocked, I told them they were cheap crappy foglights and I'd be perfectly happy if they just bought me a new set off ebay, apparently they missed that part or something.

Guess I'll stick it in the savings account and buy a pair of semi decent fogs...
