THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

All this girl talk makes me laugh. I'm taking two out to lunch today that both used to try and play mind games. But the way I see it is if you don't really think about much and let them do what THEY want, you're set. I just let them play their games and as long as I get what I want, I can put up with a lot of BS.

Less girl talk...

i'm starting to wonder what i bent in my suspension... can't really figure it out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

no, i actually looked at the #'s. if i sold the GTI i wouldn't get enough back to pay off my loan right now. or it would be tight. i'm going to look at it tonight.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can't wait for this week to be over.

I want to work on stuff.
xABILLION

The last parts I need to do a full front end on the MJ show up today and tomorrow though. I can't wait. It's getting new UCAs, LCAs, brakes from the rubber line down, axle, tie rod, springs, and shocks. I think I spent about $300 on parts and that's including brakes, new shocks, WJ LCAs, and a V8 ZJ tie rod.

I think I'll tear the old stuff off Friday evening and install all new Saturday morning, give it a driveway alignment, and see how it drives. Never done UCAs though, anyone? I've always been worried about the frame-end bolts since they have those infernal tags on them that tend to spin.

Never had a problem with the UCA frame sides spinning, or with that bolt, on either my red or green jeep.

Sawzall made quick work of removing that UCA bolt when it siezed into my RE UCA bushings last time though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've never had a problem with those bolts. They always on the frame rail and stopped spinning. PITA to get out of that hole though.

If you do have a problem, I agree with Keith.

Agreed, it's great to be able to actually do stuff outside after work. I think I'm going to restart the tri-weekly 7:30 before-work junkyard runs soon now that I have the motivation to wake up and get out of bed without freezing my balls off.

i have 2 spare stock nuts and bolts you're welcome to if you find yourself in need. i won't be reusing them :scottm:
I think I have some spares but I'm not sure where they are, that might come in very handy, thanks for offering. Normally I would avoid reusing stock bolts, especially thin ones like the UCA bolts, but this rig is staying almost entirely stock (suspension will remain stock, it's getting OBA and other functional mods though) so stock bolts are not something I will worry about.

I had a lot of trouble with the axle end ones spinning for some reason, had to grab the tags with a pair of vice grips.

Other stupid question - am I getting myself into a lot of possible trouble by trying to do body side UCA bushings on a 91 rotbox with 200k on it? I've been getting a really bad rattling/clunking noise from the front right when I hit potholes and stuff, so I suspect a whole bunch of bushings are completely shot. I just don't want to mess with it only to find out that I can't get it back together easily, or discover that the UCA bushing case is one huge glob of rust and won't come out halfway through the process. Somehow I suspect that is going to be the one problem I run into doing this swap, since everything else can be solved with suitable application of flame, BFH, and angle grinder.

EDIT: googling solved this, http://jeep.off-road.com/jeep/Featu...acement/ArticleStandard/Article/detail/360764 - I guess I'm hitting home depot on the way home!

got my rear axle installed last night, with the 4.56's i can do 75 on the highway now without pushing the pedal to the floor

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

All that rain carved a 6" deep river into my driveway and it's still running. Not looking forward to filling that in.
