THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So my boss s working from home today and I just finished lunch..

The responsible side of me feels like i should be productive

The rest of me feels like I should sit back and take a nap.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin, that setup would be sweet, but that's a big commitment to run a pass drop axle. and if you think you're going to have problems in the tranny tunnel with getting a 300 to fit, a 20 is way bigger.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

for some reason i'm actually getting a ton of work done today.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I had a productive morning and I feel like I should continue it... I guess I will head into the lab and take a look at a few things :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wow, thats alot of talk about torchs. all you fools suck, oxy/ace is the only way to go. welding tips, cutting tips, heating tips, and badassness.

speaking of which, my airgas guy is gunna hook me up. Im gettin the biggest available tanks to own for an oxygen/actylene setup for less money then the home depot/lowes kits :greensmok

Same. My spreadsheet from hell is nearly filled out and my tests are running and failing as usual  but I asked for a couple source code viewing commands from the design team and spent 20 minutes exploring and hacking, and now I know exactly why they're failing instead of only being able to guess...

Also, it's lunchtime and I just remembered my torx driver set is in the MJ in the parking lot. Time to do some more reverse engineering on that airbag controller I was working on a few months ago.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh yeah, i made plywood high steer arms last night :D

time to start cutting the knuckles, gotta pound on the spindle bolts and setup a jig for the portaband.

Sweet, my spreadsheet from hell is nearly filled out too! Well, as filled out as it can be. Still got a few more updates but the list itself is up to date.

And reverse engineering an airbag controller. Might I ask what the end goal of this project is?

Edit: Sh*t, thinking of oxy/ace tanks I just remembered that the MIG CO2 tank I picked up a while back leaks. I called in and the guy said he would replace it for me but I forgot and now it's 3 or 4 months later  Oh well, I may be out $20 or however much it was, but I guess that's not too bad of loss. Hopefully he can weigh it and see that it's still full and will still give me a replacement.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I REALLY want to buy that NP435/D20 setup on NEOW...

Carmelo, can you flip a D20?

Ford dana 20 is driver drop retard. Think about it... FORD.... ford axles are.....

...come on

If you can hook me up too! Seriously. PM me. :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It will compliment your FORD 60 nicely  cheap, easy to twinstick with random scraps of metal and comparable to a dana 300(there weakpoints are both the front output). Wolf on pirate runs one behind a v8 and a 203 doubler.

I was just reading that.

Unfortunately someone just PM'd the guy about it.

If I like wheelin a stick on Saturday, I might just have to PM him considering I'll have to make a new crossmember for the front links anyway.

203>D20 would be sweet...but probably MAD heavy.

On my part, learning/knowledge/bored + want to hack on something :dunno:

There are a couple people on here who want me to figure it out so they can disable the airbags without setting off a warning light while offroad, which just makes it a bit more interesting.

Parts availability for for dana 20s is actually better than for jeeps. Lots of bronco guys out there running them. Even though jeep dana 20s are everywhere there isn't as much aftermarket for them vs. the dana 300. If nothing else you'll be more original than most guys.

4.0>NP435>20 kinda badass:viking:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ross, what is to become of your old tanks? i wants them.

I would guess that there must be some logic high signal that breaks to 0 once the airbag deploys (or is unplugged), which in turn trips the warning light, but that's just a guess. Will have to pull up the wiring diagram tonight, see what the schematic says about what controllers take care of that. I don't even have an airbag and now I am intrigued just to see how it works. Damnit. At least that gives me another reason not to drink tonight.

Could always just wire a switch in series with the warning light  :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

next axle i build will use unit bearings

XXXX old school burrins. gotta XXXX with all sorts of seals, sand down pitted/worn seal surfaces, stick my hands in icky kookoo bearing grease, pack that shit, etc. i want to just stick in a $150 chunk of metal that rotates
