8 quadcores or 8 CPUs visible to the OS? These show up as 32 logical processors from the operating system's perspective... I had to pick my jaw up off the floor the first time I opened Windows Task Manager on one of them.

It's kinda funny watching Windows try to load balance a single threaded app across 32 CPUs, it frantically switches the app from processor to processor every timeslice

holy crap. there are 8 CPU's visible to the OS, not 32.

I figured And these processors are approximately twice as fast as anything else you can even buy right now... can't give specifics.

4 sockets for a system with these is "small", a few generations ago, SGI was making 1024-socket systems with these CPUs + custom ccNUMA backplane/network fabric chipsets. The 4-socket ones are just prototypes...

money won't be an issue on this trip.

i don't give a shit what i go through. i'm not gonna be stupid with it. but i'm gonna have a good time and not let it bother me.

my jeep gets 21ish mpg at 50-60 mph

and 14ish at 65-75

and I am content on travelling sub 60 mph the whole trip

And where the hell are you going for 4 weeks? That's one hell-uv-a trip. The only time I have taken 4+ weeks off is A) when I was forced to since I couldn't get a job over Xmas break during college. and B) when i was unemployed for 5 months...

And it sucked because both times I was near broke and couldn't afford to enjoy the time off.

Damn, I would love to find the time to do something like that. Always wanted to hit moab and rubicon... never would have thought to do it in one trip :laugh3:. Though I still have one or 2 trips to take before the moab/rubi. I got one trip up to Alaska with the Jeep.. and one trip up to Alaska with a motorcycle/dual sport hitting all the trails/roads up there.

Then I can start thinking about the other places I want to go. Though maybe I will do one trip to Alaska then give it a while before I go back.
