THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know some people aren't fond of the smitttybilt winches but for a disposable winch at $300 I figured why not, at least if it dies on me I wont cry due to the price. So I was lookin at synth. rope and realized that anything around 100ft is over $200. I then looked at the Comp winch which comes with it for $200. Any way made a couple phone calls and got the Comp winch with cover, access. bag, shipping & LIFETIME WARRANTY for the retail price of $500. They said whatever I do to it if it dies send it back and they'll send me another. Im gonna beat that winch like nobodies business.
That awesome, the 8k winch right? I was looking at smittybuild myself and comparing between the 8k with synth or the 10k. If I could get goodies like that (mostly hte warranty) I would be all over the 8k. Otherwise I am torn... though I still like the idea of synth rope.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the way i see it. now is a better time than ever. this trip has been in the plans since late 2007 and i was supposed to go with alex (crosbike)last year but he flaked out on me. then 3 months later he decided to go by himself.

i wanted to take the ktm with me, but it would be too much of a hassle.

yea, i've been trying to go since 06.

i wouldnt trailer it, wheeling with a trailer sucks, and i wouldnt want to park it at some motel/campground or wherever.

im the only one going that has a dual sport

and i would entertain one of those hitch mounted bike carriers, but i will have a tire carrier by then, and the bike would have to be a few feet from my jeep. and at 400 lbs or so, that will make my leaf springs unhappy and i'll be doin wheelies down the highway.

i'm debating bringing my MTB, but the damn hitch rack sticks out like 15" from the bumper.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just got a bonus from work.

AWESOME.

where's mine!! i was working there last year around this time of year too. which reminds me, am I still in the system under "educational leave of absence?"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So i did a bit more staring and realized last night I was thinking way too much. I will be perfectly fine running these relays with no driving circuits. The way it was wired made me think it would not be a high enough load but it should be fine. Sweet, just saved myself like $15 worth of parts that I can now return.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i don't feel like working on my jeep tonight because my vagina hurts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Whooo! I have an on-campus interview with DCS Corporation, an "engineering services" company who appear to do a lot of testing and whatnot for DoD programs, land vehicles, robotics, UAVs, etc. They're headquartered in Alexandria, VA. Scott, what sort of info do you have having lived down in that area?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i lived in DC for 4 yrs its across the nasty river from alexandria. your local to a lot of nice touristy stuff and close enough to the city to get the traffic.

traffic really really sucks there but i havent seen how the new bridge is helping things. whatever you need is right nearby. old town alexandria is cool to walk around and go to bars/people watch during the summer.

well truth be told, when i was in moab in 03 i have had plans to go back there

but reality set in from 04-07

my mountain bike sucks, if i bring it, i'll probably duct tape it to my roof

I just sent a PM instead of post a lengthy thing here when no-one else cares...

But I lived in Alexandria, I had to drive to get places. Only places within a mile or 2 were a grocery store, comcast store, dollar store, and a few small restaurants in a plaza down the road. The traffic getting around locally really sucked but I avoided rush hour since I worked outside of the city and traveled against the rush hour. Anyway, i won't get into more detail here.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm going to order one of those tomorrow.
It'll be about 1/2" from the floor. I'm going to use some of this Thermo-Tec Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier above and below it as it'll be between the floor and my belly pan.

Better than up here, not as good as SoCal. God damn I could move to SoCal for that reason alone (actually one of the only reasons I would move there).
