THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not going to 35s... yet. Now on 33s and/or 34s

But will get there eventually, at which time I would get the full case locker. Well now that you mention it; what is the least expensive full case locker that is still reaonable. OX?

Edit: Should have specified... would prefer a selectable locker so I can use 4wd in the snow on the road... Though I am looking at detriots now.

And I don't believe a truetrack would qualify  Damn

Actually, upon further searching... am I right that I found that a truetrac is full carrier and should be good for some added strength? Or is there something else to be concerned about? Yeah I know that the truetrac wouldn't be the best for wheeling but its cheaper and would be better than open (I think). Now that I have the XJ en route to the shop I am kinda short on time to figure this stuff out by searching. Damnit, shoulda thought about it earlier

the trutrac is the biggest pile of shit out there, its like the thornbird of the lsd/locker world, dosnt do shit when wheelin and in the snow its worse then a locker, ive never had a issue with my frt lockrite in the snow, just dont drive like a tard

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, are you going on UJ's run on sunday?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

mine lived with lockrite, i think the 3.55's were the magical touch though

I hope to. I won't have my rig by then but I hope to be there myself. Why do you ask?

It's nothing to do with snow and having an autolocker, it has to do with the stock D30 flexing like a wet noodle.
I understand that it is not from a traction standpoint but because of flex... That is why the first thing I am doing is getting a diff cover to try and reduce flex, plus looking into a truss... I mentioned driving in snow and such because having a front autolocker like a detroit would seem like a really poor idea for any street driving if it happened to snow enough to want 4wd. Yeah I could use 4wd to get moving and then take pop it out for corners (or coast corners) but idk... I figured selectable or lsd would be better for snow driving. I was more curious if the truetrac would give any additional strength. I am kindof thinking about a detroit unless there is another full case locker that is cheaper and would do the trick :dunno: I was just hoping to avoid dropping another $500+ this week.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

any full case locker is better than stock, meaning tru trac, detroit, OX, ARB, etc.

As Rob said, don't drive like a tard and the lockrite is totally fine. I DD mine like this for over a year.

can you bring a floor jack from nick to your house? i'll come and get it from you..

OK, I just wasn't sure if the trutrac "qualified" as a full case. I may be able to pick a used truetrack up cheap, if I can tehn I will get that. If not; I will get a full detroit... I will probably be sticking with 33-34s with the D30; Either this coming summer or the following summer I will be going to full widths. Not sure which. I am thinking my plan is D30 through this year as I plate the unibody and armor up. Then either full widths or straight to tons in a bit over a year.

Yeah, my concern is that I will be running 4.88s which I have heard get a bit thin and are prone to breaking. So part of me still wonders if even driving like a somewhat sane individual would lead to issues.

I have never been too throttle happy and have always been more finesse than brute force. Though at the same time I have also always relied on my XJ to get me to work the next day. Now that the XJ is not the DD all bets are off.

Sure thing as long as it fits in my car. I don't foresee it being a problem though. I could probably meet you somewhere just off the highway to save you 15 min of back road driving if you wanted too, depending on wehn you want to pick it up.

that works. i figure somewhere off of rt 24 would be fair... we'll figure that out when the time gets closer. it'll definitely fit in your car.

Cool; I know we have a floor jack that has to stick out my trunk, 5 ton or something. Then again if I put the 5 ton in through the front doors with the rear seat down it should fit. FWIW if you are thinking of that SUV I showed up in for the tires... that's not my car :laugh3: I drive something [a bit] smaller.

Yeah, I got a few of those kickin around my rig :wierd:

That is one reason I won't be wheeling TOO soon. I gotta replace most of my u-joints with decent stuff. Granted I also gotta replace my rear Dshaft too once I get the SYE in.

And for some reason I don't think brute force and 4.88s with stock carrier in a D30 is a bright idea. Granted that is how I WANT to play; but I will continue to place nice for now; at least until I sell the altima for a tow rig :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

no no, it will be a BNIB floor jack with a handle that comes out.
