THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There are more keys than just the letters on a keyboard .!. :D .!.
Fully agreed, especially when they are the difference between a contraction and a completely different word...

Wonder when I'm leaving the office today?

Speaking of which... anyone ever work on a remote start system? I've been toying with the idea of hacking a really ghetto ultra simple one up so I can stop getting into a freezing Jeep, I just can't decide how I should detect when to switch power from START+RUN to only RUN on the ignition switch. I'm thinking maybe have it power START till it sees a fraction of a second worth of ignition pulses to the ICM, since that means the engine is running itself by then. I just don't want to have it stop cranking too soon and stall out, or keep cranking too long and screw up the starter. And to hell with paying for a prebuilt remote start setup, that's no fun.

EDIT - for clarity; this would probably be built off a crappy ham-band radio and I'd be pushing buttons on my handheld radio to start it. No real smarts, just some relays, tone decoders, etc.

EDIT2: guess who just bought a fully legit 96 FSM for 47 bucks? :yelclap:

I have been thinking about trying the same thing, but then also thought about just buying one that does power door locks & auto start.

Then I could add power door locks to the MJ if it doesn't already have them plus I could have remote start with no effort. I would love to do my own but I would also love to have it fit in a key fob thing and home fabbed by me wouldn't fit in a key fob. :laugh3:

Curse you. All my money for the XJ is being saved for the re-gear and 9" rebuild. And I have my $400 super bowl winnings sitting here waiting on me taking more $$ out of the bank and finding a time that I can get at trailer up to buy MJ. Sooo I am working on that.

No problem Steve, it's going into the 4.88 fund. LMK about that 8.8 it may be cheabe for me to buy that and regear it than to regear my 8.25
Ill let you know, and I appreciate the trip down here.

btw, of course the only socket i dont have is the one for the bracket...after taking 1/2 hour to look for it.of course i have it in 1/2 drive, but no driver. only an impact i dont have air for anyway.:banghead:
Gotta do the track bar tomorrow at my friends garage, I guess.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a half inch breaker bar if you want to borrow it. It isn't a ratchet, but it's better than nothing. I usually end up using it instead of a half inch ratchet because I don't feel like blowing 50+ bucks on a good 1/2" ratchet.

Which MJ are you selling? The one we fixed up or the other one?

My buddy had power locks and removable doors. I can deal with wiring... not an issue

That only answers half the question. MA/NH border covers quite a bit of distance  But Ill see if my friend is interested in going up for a the day. If he isn't then I will try to get the Uhaul for Friday afternoon/evening.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hahahaha Mark's got a point.

I say he lets you guys fix it up completely and drive it up to Lobster's for him as long as I get to see the pictures of it with all 4 wheels in the air, preferably going AT LEAST 90 miles per hour.

Oh yeah... MJ is fully functional to my specifications, it is capable of going fast enough to point the speedo straight down. Now that I've proven that I will drive it like a granny.
