THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

every night is beer night at my house.
I love beer but I don't need any more aid in expanding my gut. I usually drink beer when I go to the bar. Diet coke and liquor for me at home (or whiskey on the rocks, whisky neat, whiskey sours, gin and tonics, etc). Once I motivate myself to start going to the gym again (and use that gym membership that I have been paying for since last September)... then maybe I will start drinking beer more often.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That MJ needs a 5 speed.... and an LS1, but it's OK to start with the 5 speed.
Sticking with the stock engine. I've been considering a 5 speed swap, but I need to get the XJ up and running fully again before I screw around with it too much, and I already have all the parts for just replacing the AW4 with another one + a transfer case and don't feel like spending cash on an AX15 :dunno:

beer night is "whenever the hell I feel like it"

Find me a cheap NV4500 (I think thats the one I want) and you can have my AX-15. I don't mind cutting up my trans tunnel to fit the 4500, not like I didn't just cut half of it out to replace the floors anyway. haha

I still really kinda want to put a stroker in something now that I know I can pick one up for $1700 delivered to my door. Maybe the trail rig will end up with a stroker. Or maybe I won't end up getting a mustang/trans am and will pick up a cheap XJ and throw a stroker in there, or a LS1... and then just throw some REAL firm suspension in there and use that for my street "car". It is a station wagon, right? XD

Edit: http://newhaven.craigslist.org/cto/1573562568.html Nope.. THERE is my wagon :D:D:D:D Back to shopping for an AMC eagle. Then I will swap a stroker into that with an OBDI computer, AX-15 or NV3550 trans, NP242, and either an 8.25 or the 9" I have now out back. Fawk yeah

I don't know where I'd find such a thing :dunno:

On a somewhat similar subject, anyone got an unloved 2.5L I4 hanging around? I've been toying with this 2wd beam + d35 + stock XJ tires buggy idea for far too long, I want to see if I can build it and I need a motor.

EDIT: who's still at work? I bet I know at least one 9-5er who is...

I guess if you were building it out of all XJ parts then yes, that would be the way to go... but since I picked up my welder last fall I have been toying with the idea of a summer 2 seater buggy build which would involve a custom frame/chassis, custom fiberglass body, V65 Magna or Sabre engine. shaft drive (that motorcycle engine is already shaft drive so not hard) to whatever rear end I decided would be best.

Mind you I was planning that build based on the fact that I was also planning on buying a house sometime between last fall and this coming summer so I could have all the space I need to work on it... but that hasn't happened yet.

Using the bike engine would give a sequential gearbox and should make everything nice and simple/fun. I would ideally LOVE to build it to spec to the point that it could pass MA custom car inspection... but I doubt I am skilled enough for that

Edit: Oh man! F*** the stang... I am back on the market for a AMC eagle SX4. Already got one email out. :D THAT would be a fun car. Throw some firm suspension in it, do a solid front axle swap, HO 4.0 & computer, NP242, etc... that thing would hold up great on even some easy trails :D I loved reading threads about doing a solid front axle swap in the Eagles and reading all the trouble they ran into... and it all sounds simple after working on the XJ :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so i got 2 plans for the 98 for supention

1.toss in 2" coil spacers and aal's i have layin around, basicly same way blue jeep started

2. toss in stock tj coils and figure out way to lower rear, i havent lowerd a xj yet, plus i wont be wheelin it like that

ill be doin a oil change in it, 5 quarts Vavoline 10-30 and a quart of mmo maybee there will be a miricle and the XXXXin noisy lifter will shut the XXXX up, if not this spring there will be a motor swap party at my house

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's where I got mine :D Though I think it's angry with me since I absolutely beat on it ever since I replaced it back in late '06. all through 07 and into 08 I figured "I will be pulling the engine after I graduate I am sure, so I will jsut replace it again."... I downshifted and didn't rev match... I dropped the clutch (or slipped it a ton, depending where I was).. all on oversize tires... It may still be fine, btu I need to get a few more miles on it to find out whether or not I killed it :roflmao:

I plan (if this could be considered planning, it's more of a pipe dream) on using as many XJ parts as I can, especially ones considered crappy on here (already have the axles and seats), because it keeps it in the realm of things I am semi-familiar with and can afford. A frame would definitely be in the plans, no idea how I'd do the suspension, hopefully streetable but not really required. I'd want to keep everything as low as absolutely possible so I wouldn't have to worry about flipping it quite so much. No idea if I'd put body panels on it though, probably not because I am not that great with fiberglass.

EDIT: Rob, I thought you were gonna keep it stock? :eyes: :D

You think I am even "good" with fiberglass? :roflmao:

My hope was to use the bike engine for simplicity plus to keep it lightweight, not have to worry about a full automotive drivetrain RWD buggy type of project. Plus using a bike engine condenses alot of the drivetrain stuff and I could keep the engine/weight to behind the driver.

Hell, to keep everything in check I could have the rear suspension AND engine mount pivot around the same point so the driveshaft angle never changes... Yeah it may be dreaming but it would be one hell of a fun project. I thought about using my C8.25 for the rear axle, gearing it as low as possible and throwing the 33x12.50s out back (now 31x12.50s) and some smaller ATs up front. Make a dune vehicle out of it. I really hope I get my own house with a bit of land soon. I have some crazy ideas. Esp cause I could pick up that V65 engine for dirt cheap.
