THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wish I could find a solid tow rig that could get 20+mpg highway (when not towing of course). I think I would consider trading my 30mpg altima in if I could be driving a nice truck and keep it around 20mpg average (I do about 40 miles per day highway, 20 on back roads I would say).

Yeah that may be asking for alot.. but hell.. I KNOW as soon as I get rid of my DD/fuel efficient vehicle gas prices are going to skyrocket again. They started to drop as soon as I bought the car, they will shoot back up when I sell it.

Matt (egon on here) uses a Nissan Xterra as his tow rig and his DD. I'm sure that gets pretty good mpg considering its a standard and a 6cyl.

I can pull 21-22 mpg in my CTD if I baby it.

Usually 19-20 mpg mixed driving. I drive about the same as you (~75 miles a day).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What year is yours? IIRC it was somewhere in the early 00s

I would prefer to get a CTD, but like I said, fords have been appealing lately. Not sure why.

I can't tell if I love or hate the huge cab. I KNOW it would be more useful to me to have at least a quad cab or whatever they are called these days (so I can move more than 2-3 people) but at the same time having the mega cab seems decent. I mean be able to sit 4 comfortably, throw a trans or tires or axle in the bed, tow my rig. I still think I would prefer a full bed... but still tempting. I just want a 5 speed so that will be the hard thing to find I think.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

recording the reaction means using a camera. it's illegal to have cameras on base... but i really want to drop some water on him or something... tying his shoelaces would be a good one. but i'm not going in a stall where a dude has his pants down and is pooping.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah mine is an '01.

I looked on craigslist and autotrader and whatnot for months before I found mine. Even went to look at one crapbox that they wanted $21k for.

Got mine for $13.5k.

I'd hold out for the NV4500.

Not getting another Nissan. I am not a fan of the altima, has given me MANY problems. So yeah, avoiding them for a while at least.

NV4500 should be in any 5-speed up to mid 00's, right?

And I am def holding out until I get a 5 speed. I drove my fathers SUV for a couple days last week and hated every minute of it. Only 5 speed I can find on autotrader/CL right now seems to be a $20k standard cab. I know I want AT LEAST an extended cab and no way I want to spend 20k for a '03 truck right now. When I have time to shop... I take my time :D I didn't have much time to shop for my car and I made a bad choice. My 2 motorcycles? Both great & CHEAP purchases. I like time.

Edit: but something like this: http://providence.craigslist.org/cto/1579060367.html

Has also been drawing my attention lately. Not that in particular, but same idea.

Superglue his shoes to the floor then wait a bit and pound on the door.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i'm using the Luk Gold, which is MUCH better and firmer IMO than the stock one. I believe the OEM is the normal Luk kit, but an extra $30 isnt a huge deal since the clutch isn't a normal wear item

if you get a ford i suggest trying to stick ith the 7.3 its not exactly a powerhouse or fast by any means but its better than the 6.0 and the 6.4 they replaced it with

if oyu do get a 6.0 make sure its the 3rd yr after they started production of them i think that was 03. earlier than that had head stud problems quite frequently

and the 6.4 is such a peice of garbage. cant get out of its own way with a load on. was using an f550 to tow maybe 3500 lbs and i could barley keep 65 on the highway

fords trannys are junk tho. so all in all i would go with a CTD. i am kicking myself for not doing so
