THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken don't destroy the motor. I'll toss you some money for it if it's still decent. but I was looking at the golen 4.6L for $3600. So it's like a thousand more and if something goes wrong I have someone to yell at. Interesting.
I'm gonna throw a new RMS/pan gasket in it when I'm doing the 4wd swap, swab as much of the sludge as I can out of the pan, and throw whatever snake oil magical leak sealer seems most popular on NAXJA through it plus high mileage oil and see if that fixes it. Might do bearings too... He threw synthetic oil in it, which I figured wouldn't hurt it, seems like it uncovered a leak or two. I definitely won't wreck the motor, now that I've got a "spare DD" I'm going to be doing much more work on both, since I have something else to drive to work. Might just put the 98 spare motor in it and rebuild the old motor as practice/insurance.

Also... anyone (long shot I know) know of garages/shops for rent in central mass? I'm getting really tired of this snow BS keeping me from really getting anything done.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

try craigslist? i'll betcha if you look enough you could find one like 3 times the size of mine for less money

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's what I was thinking. I just need to find a motor stand and make sure my dad's cool with me taking up a corner in the garage.

i have a motor sitting in my garage that ill give you, it be a great start for a stroker build, was pulled 3 years ago and has been kicking around since ran fine when pulled, only problem is one of the thread bosses on the pass side of the block is broken so theres only 2 bolts unless you go with a a aftermarket block bracket

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd rather build a motor stand than find/buy one... good welding practice.

Dunno why I didn't think of craigslist  going to check that at lunch tomorrow. I know one of my friends in NJ gets his shop for 75/mo, hope I can find something like that around here.

EDIT: that'd be a wicked shop but damn, it costs more than my current rent for my third of my apartment!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Keith - hahaha that'd be awesome but I'd rather pick up an M35 for that kind of cash.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have to figure out what the military truck the guy at my town dump drives. He also owns a huge peice of land tha he started to clear for houses. It's full of dirt hills and rock piles, I want to ask him if a few of the guys here and I can take our XJ's out there as long at we're "respectable" to his land.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah... Worcester is way cheaper than Boston. We pay 1100/mo for one floor, only one/two parking spaces (one behind the other but luckily I'm the only one with vehicle(s)) but it's 3 blocks from campus. It's got 2 real bedrooms and I temp-installed a door frame on the living room and live in there.

On that note... I'm gonna pass out, work in the morning :(

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Stuff that I got done today...

- A/C lines, condenser, etc. all gone
- Evap canister, lines, etc all gone
- cruise control gone
- clutch fan from travis's rig in
- new tranny lines rerouted through drilled holes in front crossmember
- bumper painted (at my brothers work)

Also, in the process of moving my tranny cooler, I proceeded to accidentally snip one of the tubes in the radiator so I now have a friggin tiny pinhole leak. I'm going to crack an egg in there and see if it works.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just checked my parts catalog and the 92-93 4wd knuckles are the same as the 92-93 2wd knuckles, with the 91 2wd knuckles not listed. Are they the same? Stupid question, I know...

Honestly not familiar with the 91+ 2wd brake setups. I assumed they were all the same but maybe not. 91-99 4wd are the same.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark, if your red jeep has good unit bearings and brakes how much would you want for them? I'm thinking I'll just press ball joints into the axle kyle gave me and throw hubs and stubs in to get me by. Am I missing something? What else do I need to get a dana 30 rolling?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

questions from this weekend

Did Bill do anything to his rig this weekend?
...
Yes. Not as much as I had hoped, but yes.

The room is nice isn't it? I knew it wouldn't take you long after seeing the space cleared in mine.

Looks like you'll be buying a radiator just like me.

Yeah, frees up so much room. Luckily, all my lines are held in with fittings so I can just unscrew them all (just cut them off for now though) and find plugs at home depot or something.

Hopefully not...it's a CSF 3-row and less than a year old. I'm praying I can save it...
