THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmmm, I am starting to seriously reconsider gearing the d30. Unless I find a cheap axle already geared to 4.88s I think I am taking the front DS out and just keeping the Jeep 2wd for now... and going full width. :D Starting to shop for a HP44/9" now. I figure I can bring the backspacing in from 3.75", maybe go to 4.5", and gain only 2" overall vehicle width... plus if I run narrower tires I would lose some width from that.. keep it pretty close to the current width

the soft 8's i sold you are 4" BS, FWIW...

Nice, thanks. Though when (and yes, it's now when, I think I just decided I am going full width) I go with the HP44/9" I will probably end up buying new wheels... It's either buying wheels or using adapters to get me to the 5x5.5 bolt pattern.. and adapters will space it out which is exactly what I don't want to do. :laugh3:

Edit: I just realized I bought about $1200 worth of stuff (axle and tires) and half of it will be going back up for sale soon. And if a D30 that is already geared to 4.88s just happens to show up on the classifieds for cheap I may pick that up too so I can have a wheelable rig while I build.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

run the 30 and 9" with 34's heck even lock the 30 unless you drive like a complete idiot like me the 30 will live for a good bit i see no reason to waste time and money on a 44 if your just running the 34's

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

questions from this weekend

Did Bill do anything to his rig this weekend?
Did Travis get his new rig this weekend?
How far did Billy get done with his leaf conv. this weekend?
What broke this weekend on Marks's XJ's

Carmelo, I have a D30 under my red jeep.

Agreed with Ross.

What do you need? I need brake calipers, a pass side knuckle, and some other stuff, if you wanna split a 30 from a junkyard let me know. Heck, we could probably even swipe a second pass side knuckle and switch it out so it has two pass side knuckles when we leave the yard if that's what you need.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I took the comanche for a test drive tonight. The front brakes were sticking but I thought they were the rear and I assumed it was the E brake so I BEAT ON IT. Figuring the drag would stop since it wasn't too much and the shoes would wear away plus I wanted to drive it. Well needless to say my new pads & rotors are FU CKED as well as the bearing i'm sure. I have no pedal and no patience to put brand new good brakes on a 2wd axle.

So like I said, anything... All I have now is the axle itself and the knuckles. So if anyone has decent parts laying around i'll use them.

I plan on going bigger than 34s eventually... the 34s are just a "for now cause I have them" tire. Probably 36s next. And I will most likely be an idiot so I would like some insurance :D That and I know I will be going bigger eventually, so I figure why dump money into a 30, I might as well just do it right the first time. The only issue I see with building a d44 is that if I did that I would have no excuse for not building myself a longarm setup at the same time (or buying one, but that's another decision for another day).

My only question is if my 110v welder would be strong enough to weld on control arm brackets, etc. I think it might, it would just be a slow process. Edit: or I would just tack stuff in place and bring it to my friend's place to get it finished up, depends how it's working I guess.
