Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Agreed with Ross.

What do you need? I need brake calipers, a pass side knuckle, and some other stuff, if you wanna split a 30 from a junkyard let me know. Heck, we could probably even swipe a second pass side knuckle and switch it out so it has two pass side knuckles when we leave the yard if that's what you need.

why mess with used calipers? you can get remans for 30 bucks easy at your parts store

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So, anyone have some front tow hooks they want to let me borrow (that tie into more than the stock 3 front bumper holes) or sell for cheap?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I took the comanche for a test drive tonight. The front brakes were sticking but I thought they were the rear and I assumed it was the E brake so I BEAT ON IT. Figuring the drag would stop since it wasn't too much and the shoes would wear away plus I wanted to drive it. Well needless to say my new pads & rotors are FU CKED as well as the bearing i'm sure. I have no pedal and no patience to put brand new good brakes on a 2wd axle.

So like I said, anything... All I have now is the axle itself and the knuckles. So if anyone has decent parts laying around i'll use them.
Just checked my parts catalog and the 92-93 4wd knuckles are the same as the 92-93 2wd knuckles, with the 91 2wd knuckles not listed. Are they the same? Stupid question, I know...

My only question is if my 110v welder would be strong enough to weld on control arm brackets, etc. I think it might, it would just be a slow process. Edit: or I would just tack stuff in place and bring it to my friend's place to get it finished up, depends how it's working I guess.
The answer is yes for street driving at least, I stuck my old broken LCA bracket back together with a handful of 1/8" stock scraps and a 110v welder, been driving on it since September or so. I've hit some pretty mean parking dividers, potholes, dirt roads, etc.

Hmm, might have to do that, though 50 bucks for knuckle + calipers beats 60 bucks for calipers and however much for a knuckle.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you wanted to make a bracket for them I have just the hooks.

Thanks, but I was looking to see if anyone had anything sitting around, pretty limited on time. I have a set of front hooks that mount to just the front 3 bolts.

Doesn't matter at the moment, I'm borrowing something awesome, in hopes of wheeling at lobster.

I have the two main brackets (or similar to them) in that pic... No tow hooks or any of the other brackets. Could let those go pretty cheap, you would just have to make the other brackets/get the hardware.

it be funny when you have brake issues cuz you wanted to save a few bucks with used calipers then reman or new ones

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm no stranger to brake issues... the way I look at it, I'm driving ~140k mile (and ~208k mile) used calipers right now, if I find a C4C junker with 75k on it and the calipers look like they're in good shape, I'll use em. I would use the ones on the axle I pulled but I was so tired and pissed off that I forgot one of em in the yard, so I only have one side.

You do raise a valid point though... especially since it seems cmelo needs some of the same parts I do, I might just pick up a good set of remans. Seems rockauto has ones with pads included for 40 bucks and without pads for 24.

thats what my stock 99 parts truck had

earlier stock tow hooks were MUCH simpler (basically just the main pieces) they were plenty strong for me when i ran them on my 91 xj back in the day (i think i had it on my 96 too)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah it's in squeegiesteve's rig now.

I've got a spare, but it looks like I'll be putting it into the MJ soon, from the angry sounds something is making... running on 1.5 liters of OLD ass oil did not make that engine happy in the least.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ken you keep talking about this MJ... but I have yet to see pics of it!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah my camera got stolen last time they busted into my jeep :gonnablow which was before my friend bought the MJ and far before I bought it off him.

the hell with it, if it's in good enough shape I'll drive it to lobster's in two weeks since I won't be wheeling either way

It probably won't be registered by then, but it lasted the drive to/from NJ so I think it'll hold together.

Warning... it is a beat up rustbucket just like my XJ, don't expect anything pretty just yet, this summer I am planning on redoing the body work and paint if I get time.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken don't destroy the motor. I'll toss you some money for it if it's still decent. but I was looking at the golen 4.6L for $3600. So it's like a thousand more and if something goes wrong I have someone to yell at. Interesting.

dont waste money on there motor, a friend had one in his manchee a few years back and had nothing but issues with it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im gonna drain the oil and see how long my 4.0 will run for before i swap it over.(if i dont blow it up beforehand)

actually that might not be a good idea

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
