THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

speaking of lick em stick em, anyone know the going rate for a windshield at junkyards around here? Friend's MJ windshield blew up the first time he turned the heat on after we replaced the thermostat and he hasn't gotten it inspected yet, so I figure a junkyard windshield is in order because there is no way he's passing ANYWHERE with a 10" long crack right in the center of the driver's field of view, and his glass insurance won't cover it unless it has a valid inspection sticker.
Call around :dunno: I'll gladly help pull one from Everett's if it's a good price there. Otherwise if you wnt to call that self serve pull yard down on Rt 140 I could grab one for ya while I'm there this wkend if they give you a better quote.

Does your friend live in mass?
Yep, he's across town, my axles are currently occupying his garage floor.

You do know you get free windshields in MA from insurance, right?

Travis: I checked at work today, I don't have Monday off. There goes my great plan for the weekend.

Yeah, I thought (he told me) that the vehicle has to have a valid inspection sticker though - supposedly he went through the same crap on his junktastic honda, which ended up being junked before he ever replaced the windshield. If that's not the case and he can have it replaced whenever, well, problem solved, and thanks very much for enlightening me!

As he said, his friend hasn't got inspected yet. And you need to have passed inspection before you can use insurance to replace the windshield.

I have some weird marking on my windshield and I think it has come down to the only possible explanation is that it got hit with the angle grinder. :dunno: I just have to pass inspection before a "rock" happens to hit my windscreen at "high" speed.

Edit:  beat me to responding... and i do think you're right. You need to be inspected before you can have the windshield replaced. It's to avoid having people who buy (or re-register) a car with a cracked windshield from getting insurance and immediately using it to fix an existing problem.

Yeah, that's the only way I could explain that too, that stuff is really stuck in there. Sparks get pretty damn warm - you don't want em on your paint/windshield/mirrors/headlights/...
