THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yep. Sh*t happens though :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Eh, now that I am actually awake maybe I Will try and go tear my rear axle apart and figure out what's going on. Either that or I will forget the Jeep exists for a couple weeks, at least until I have the 9" up to par and probably have the D30 regeared.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Can anyone tell me: Is the front D44 from a 80's J series Jeep the same as the waggy 44? Or is it wider?

Edit: And is the Waggy D44 narrow track the one that is just a bit wider than the D30? Or is the narrow track too narrow?
Edit3: Deleted Edit 2: Starting to think the narrow track D44 front from a wagoneer is 61.5" WMS... can anyone confirm?

Huh. Sullivan Steel quoted me $95 or so for a 4x8 of #14 diamond plate, I'm thinking I might do my rear floorboards with it, anyone wanna split a sheet?

Ok, I know this is going to start something we've been over a few times before in this thread alone... but don't build D44s. Swap it in if you must, but I can't see spending money on 'em. Sorry Travis/Mark.
The Waggy D44 is a little bit wider, but nothing to worry about.

Yeah I know :laugh3: not any silly chrome crap or anything though (just plain steel), I just want it to be a little stiffer than it would be for the thickness, stand up well to me dropping random heavy crap on it without denting, and maybe the stamping will keep things from sliding around so badly too.

Five words:
Bead roller or dimple die.

:D
I would, but I think that even Harbor Freight equipment will cost me more than 50 bucks and I'm unlikely to need it again :(

And like I've said, I don't see any reason what so ever for building a D60 when you don't really need it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with D44's.

i will agree with you Mark, some just dont need like i said in this thread before, there a few on here with 44 fronts that beat the shit out of then and do great, not all need 60's Bill

diamond plate isnt as strong as steel plate of same thickness

i think its more a matter of since youre gunna be dropping the coin to build the axle, you might as well just do a 60. Yes, the 44 would probably be enough for many of us but buildin a 60 is just good insurance. id much rather overkill it the first time around and not have to worry about it and have the ability to upgrade tire size without hesitation.
