Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

diamond plate isnt as strong as steel plate of same thickness
It isn't? I must be confused about how they measure it, I thought it was measured for the thickness of the base plate not including the height of the ridges.

i think its more a matter of since youre gunna be dropping the coin to build the axle, you might as well just do a 60. Yes, the 44 would probably be enough for many of us but buildin a 60 is just good insurance. id much rather overkill it the first time around and not have to worry about it and have the ability to upgrade tire size without hesitation.
Agreed, though there is no chance I'm going to 44s or 60s ever, I would rather overkill once and never worry about it than build something "good enough" and then have to fix it a few times.

Afternoon.
Sweet!

Ok, I know this is going to start something we've been over a few times before in this thread alone... but don't build D44s. Swap it in if you must, but I can't see spending money on 'em. Sorry Travis/Mark.
The Waggy D44 is a little bit wider, but nothing to worry about.

Diamond plate? Clear coat it for the ultimate bling yo dawg shizzzle!

Back to work... man its cold in the garage.

Well as some have said, not all need the 60... but I will be going to a 60 sooner or later. Right now I just want to wheel.

My rear axle s*** the bed last night and I'm pretty sure it barely got me home. Luckily I picked up Billy's old 9" last night and will be repairing that and getting it installed asap. Then I just need something up front. My choices are either regearing my 30 or doing a bit more work and dropping a 44 in. I would rather spend a few hundred more and get the 44.

While I have the 9"/44 combo the plan is to build a 14-bolt/D60 setup. Then swap them in once everything is done for minimal downtime.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How bad is your rear axle anyways? It seemed to be doing fine, except for that whole "congealed sludge instead of gear lube" issue. What blew up, gears? bearings?

its the fact of the addes wieght of the 60, the kill unibodys fast that aint braced properly, also the ground clearance, if your at 36's or under a 44 is perfectly fine Sam has it right all of us who are building 60's aint wheelin are shit, those with 44's are

rockwells > you

Billy, I just realized last night is the third time I've seen you since I went to that ham radio festival and I STILL haven't managed to get the speaker to you. I'm gonna stick it in my passenger seat so it's there on the 17th.
