Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

fix the turn signals and lights. then jsut drive it, f the rest:D if/when stuff goes wrong, itll be easier to figure out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ken the ttb is ford stupid have solid axle half ifs suspention they used in the 80's and 90's, the f250s would have it and ares suposid 60 outers
ok, so I'm looking for an 80s/90s f250 with the wacky drivetrain setup, and you want bits out of the hubs. I'll see if I can find anything, I have your number so I'll text you if I find stuff and see if you can ID it positively.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

look for independent-looking front suspension with leafs and a gheyass steering setup. any 80s/90s 250 will have it. if rob wants jsut the wheel hubs, ill take the lockouts:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ken just post back on naxja if you see anything, it aint somthing i need but it be good to have so i can mock up my 60

i thought you were gonna run 35 spline outers?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hahaha yeah i thought about it...just being lazy now.

I have to torque down the hitch again and put a new exhaust hanger on tomorrow morning.
Wow it sounds like your list of stuff to fix is nearly as difficult as my short-list...

(still suspecting that 14 years of rust on my TREs is gonna make for a little fun with the BFH!)

EDIT:
dont expect me to awnser, im sleeping in on my birthday
by the time I finish pulling steering shit, a rear wiper motor/switches/bits of whatever is screwed up on mine, a door latch, and whatever else I remember I need, it'll probably be noon or so, so I wasn't sure if you'd be awake or not.

ok, thanks - will do.

OK, I'll either post up on here with a vehicle location/description in the yard or pull what I think you're looking for and stash it somewhere, then post location here.

i wanna, but spares will be 30 spline stubs and hubs.

ill probably jsut run stock outers to get me going and rolling. plus, if sean says his stocks last with 37's, ill give it a try. but 35 spline stubs are high on the list.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I usually keep a list of stuff to do to the XJ. Not all of it necessarily gets done before the next wheelin event and some of it is just "check stuff"

- Hacksaw tranny inspection plate bolt (interferes with exhaust)
- HP44 axle seals?
- Cat flange gasket
- Tune-up
- rear wiper motor
- suck in hatch (rattles)
- loose drivers side control arm?
- grease everything
- gas tank leaking?
- sending unit fried?
- oil change
- check t-case fluid

 theres only soo much preventative work that can be done

oh. ok :D

That was the plan... but idk how the hell I am going to figure out the lights. I just made a huge post in OEM if you care, but long story short (as far as I remember): it seems like as soon as I used my right turn signal s*** hit the fan. Sigh.

Edit: Ok. So I just went out and started losening the tail light to check the bulb... tail light turned back on. So was just lose connection. Half my problem is fixed. Now I just have to figure out the turn signal.\

Edit 2: Question for y'all, the dash dimmer knob/headlight switch. Which way are you supposed to turn it to make the dash brighter? To me it makes sense that it would be "clockwise makes dash brighter, counterclockwise makes dash dimmer"... mine is doing just the opposite of that :wierd: I wonder if that is related to my other electrical issues at all. Hmmm, the plot thickens...

Oh, well thats just f***ed up then. Part of me felt like I remembered thinking the same thing when I first got the Jeep but I couldn't be sure. :roflmao:

Damnit, now I need to figure out electrical issues and that is NOT something I wanted to do on Saturday morning. Anyone want to help me figure this out. I can supply food...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sooo I made it back.

Now the fun begins. At this point I'm not sure if I will be in the Jeep at the UJ party, I am hoping to mooch a parents vehicle unless I drive the Jeep for a while tomorrow and feel comfortable that the fuel pump wont die.

So the problems I have found (so far).

  • Strange electrical gremlin (F me, I hate these): Turn signal doesn't work. To make it quick. My right turn signal dashboard light stays on all the time, unless I have my turn signal switch telling it that I am taking a right turn. Then it goes off. Also only my passenger rear parking light works, drivers side does not. Time to go ask for help in OEM tech :banghead:
  • There is a slight rubbing noise when I turn right. Could very easily just be the dust shield or rust on brakes. It seemed to get better the longer I was out driving, but still... makes me cautious. I am pretty sure I have heard it before, I just don't know what it was. I am afraid it was something like balljoints before. but the joints that are on there now have seen very few miles. so i dont think they should be bad.
  • Fuel pump makes noise. I Knew it would, but it seems to make noise a lot sooner than before. I.e. last time I drove it I would hear the pump after I got off the highway during a drive from eastern MA to western MA. Tonight I heard it after only like 30 min of driving back roads. Then again I have to carpet or anything so for all I know it's the same as before.
  • Seemed to be some noise from the rear end or something, but then again that could have been the same "right hand turn rubbing".. this sound went away after a few miles so idk. The Jeep also seemed to catch posi alot more than I remember and spun the tires pretty easily. My cargo area is compltely empty so not much weight. Still, I gotta crack the diff and make sure somethings not wrong back there.
  • Steering felt sloppy, maybe 1" play in steering wheel. Gotta grease everything up first thing in the morning when I can find a grease gun. see if that tightens anythign up :dunno:
