THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my options:

1. toss in some open spider gears
2. run the locker til it really blows up.
3. buy a used lockrite and put another $200 into the front end
4. weld it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

whats an RRoD Xbox?
As was mentioned, Red Ring of Death.

Essentially it's a broken Xbox. If you are out of warranty it costs $100 to get it fixed. Can usually find the broken Xbox's on ebay for the 30$ range (or cheaper). I know how to fix them so I could pick them up for $30 plus say $15 shipping, repair them, and sell them for $75-$100.

Only issue is that the fix isn't guaranteed to work so I may end up with some totally dead systems, which means that I will have lost that $45. Kind of a gamble really. The good thing is that if I do get them working again the system should never break with that same error again. I am actually going to do this fix on my buddies system when he comes home for new years. His hasn't broken yet but I am doing it as a preventative measure so it never will break.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

snow run in the middle of jan. its still working and stuff in 4wd, it just decides to unlock and make load banging noises here and there.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

DOUBLE UGH!!!! i jsut remembered you gotta pull the carrier to get the locker out. fml. if im gunna go thru all that effort anyways, i may just get another used locker. if i can get it all back together for under 200, ill do it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ross how do you know it's the locker?

Have you popped the cover yet?

i pulled the cover when i had to redo the DS bj's and everything looked OK. the teeth and springs are worn a little, but then again its at least 4 years old with 35's. theres nothing really else it could be, its coming from the center section. i can also feel it while driving when it bangs/unlocks i can tell im losing power to one of the wheels.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmm. The burn on my forearm from accidentally setting myself on fire while at Skreed's part-out is mostly healed.

Ross - in that case I vote fix it and put the parts on the wall next to the broken stuff, maybe make a "stuff that would have broken next time I wheeled it" wall as well?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

trophies aren't meant to be half assed, unless their is a trail repair story with it you can't really show it off lol. I have a few of those too :p usually someone looks and goes what "was" that?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The first time I went wheeling (the day I got my XJ, with completely bald rear tires and all) one guy snapped his tie rod trying to take the harder line.

Suddenly we were all watching (from ahead of him) and were all saying "that is not the line I would have taken...". everyone was quite confused  Then we noticed his passenger side tire was more or less steering itself and the driver didn't know it until he got most of the way through (thank god there were kinda ruts that his tires kinda followed).

Ended up patching it together with a hi-lift handle and pulling him out of the trail and to a buddies house where we welded the tie rod back together just to get him home. It was a good/long day. I miss wheeling

Edit: Why do people have to post land in ME down in the MA area??! I just saw 22.75 acres of land for $45k and got all excited even though I knew there was something weird about it. Would be awesome haveing 22+ acres. I would just build myself a good size garage with a studio type apt over it to keep it cheap. Or maybe do a 1 or 2 bedroom apt up stairs... idk. Either way I would just use that for a house since it would be cheaper to build than a full house I'm sure. Oh well. Back to shopping. I have so much work I should do but I don't feel like it, been going non-stop all day so far and im mentally fried.

saw a dude have his transmission fall out infront of me on the trail. I thought it was his skid at first until he stopped and we all checked.

thankfully he had a hand held torque wrench and spare bolts. Got him up and going again.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

^^^ holy crap!

How'd his radiator fare? I would imagine the fan must have gone right into it from the engine/tranny tipping back, unless he has no belt driven fan and converted to full electric or something.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sweet, found a brand new aussie for sale for $200-215. im gunna pull the cover again and check stuff out to double check and make sure its the lockrite. if it is, im gunna buy the aussie.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You are the first person who should have ever owned a GPS.

I know, with all the crap I've bought in the last couple years even stupid stuff you'd think I would have bought one. I even have a folder of mapquest sheets saved. My mother had one before me.

I have something like that in there and we used to have a torpedo heater, but the propane and kerosene killed me. I actually play Randy when working in the garage.

I'm the guy next door with all the smelly hounds.

my toes are cold!!!! i jsut plowed the whole backyard for parking for the pats game sunday.

did i mention i use a ride-on john deere so my toes are cold?

I got my mothers all set to plow the driveway and she waited until the morning to plow when the snow was over the blade and wonders why the tires are spinning in the garage.

Ross - in that case I vote fix it and put the parts on the wall next to the broken stuff, maybe make a "stuff that would have broken next time I wheeled it" wall as well?

Thats like buying yourself the first place trophy
