THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

holy hell i just looked up that "5S" thing, and DAMN i would hate to have to do that! look at this image a quick google search came up with, and i feel it epitomizes it pretty well:
<snipped 5S nightmare diagram>

:wow:
:puke::puke::puke:

Seeing as how it was cold as balls today, I'm thinking about putting a remote start in the Briarwood for when I start work. I have to walk 5 minutes to get to my car in the morning, and I think it will be nice to get into a warm car.
Also considering remote start, but I need to think it through and make sure some retard can't just walk up to it and drive it away while it's running there. I guess the fact that the key is in the off position and the tranny is locked into park would help, but I need to think about it a bit.

No, you should have seen the hell I had to go through when I got home and told my parents that I just spent another $450. If it wasn't so cold I'd be sleeping in the Jeep.
My Jeep is my DD, so when I need tires, I need tires and there is no kvetching to be done about it :eyes:

Well the main part is that I just took $3300 out of my college funds to go buy a street bike. So now I have a Jeep, VW, and a bike. Along with parts piles for each.
:dunno: I don't see a problem here... lol

this week sucks, im gunna beat the bag outta black jeep for some release.
whoa whoa whoa, it better be in good enough shape afterwards to test a tranny controller on! :spin1:

I took $2500 out of my college loans to build myself a new computer a few years ago. Surprisingly I didn't get too much crap for that. You are starting to catch up to me. I now have a Jeep, 2 bikes (street and dual sport), and the Altima. Looking to buy a 2nd Jeep this weekend. I got/get alot of crap on a regular basis for all my vehicles.

I hear ya there. I told my parents I was thinking about buying another Jeep (which I also assured them would not be stored at their house) and they turned around and told me I was going to start paying rent to live at their house. Sigh. Hopefully wont be too much. :( I tried that whole "buy alot until they give up" thing and it didn't work too well. Maybe I won't buy another Jeep this weekend esp since I will be spending another $1000 on axles and other parts within a month or 2 for the current Jeep as it is. But I really want an MJ for $350... I guess it didn't help my case that I spent $400 on bumpers earlier this week and my father just saw them yesterday before I got home... so I walked in and got "are those new bumpers?" question, when I said yes he was fine with it. Until I then posed the "what are the plans for this weekend?" question which was directly leading into "well I may need a ride to CT since I might be buying another Jeep". I should have stopped as soon as he was OK with my new bumpers :roflmao:
(a) how the hell did you spend 2500 on a computer :wow: I've never spent more than $750 on one... (b) does this mean I have to buy the MJ? lol

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

gears are over rated!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damnit, so who wants to come over my house and bend up/weld on some rockers for me while I do other stuff on the Jeep. I just realized there are not enough hours in the day for the work that I *should* get done by tomorrow afternoon/evening.
I'm sadly gonna be busy as hell tonight/tomorrow, helping to do long-range point to point RF comms testing again this weekend... we're shooting 24GHz from mount wachusett to southbridge airport, hopefully. Might have to do bancroft hill to worcester airport instead though.

(a) top of the line on everything. I feel like I really could have spent the money better, but I was a computer engineer and a few years later the computer still runs every program I throw at it on top settings (games still play smooth on max settings). I have used the computer enough to get my money's worth.
(b) Maybe... I am still waiting on the owner to send pics of it. Are you planning on talking to the guy and buying it if I don't?
If it was at least 40* and you had food, I'd be there. But it's a little cold for me...

I have a heated garage :dunno: gets kinda smokey in there while I am welding and grinding so I have to open the doors from time to time to vent it out, which also lets some of the heat out though :(

That sounds pretty badass, I wish I was doing that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know how that goes. It's fine, they get used to it. Just don't give in. Just spend relentlessly for a few months and after awhile they'll throw their hands in the air and give up on you, at which point you're free to spend what you want, when you want. Another thing that helps get them off your back is lying about prices. For example I told my parents my 9.5ti cost $250

My parents don't give a crap what I do. I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I do good in school and I don't get into trouble. My "bad habit" is working on Jeeps? Sounds like a pretty positive bad habit to me. Not too mention I am pretty damn sure both my parents secretly think the things i've bought are badass.

you're going to go snowboarding / skiing during the downtimes during the test, right? right?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I have a chance to mount and balance my tiers for free today. Should I suck up the 3.55 and 33's for a few months 'till I can fork some cash for gears?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I sucked up 33's and 3.07s for over a year. I say go for it.

I do drink but no drugs... but drinking doesn't impact my work or family life or anything, so it's not a problem.

My father thinks the stuff I bought is pretty badass, he just hates that I have so much stuff around the house and we don't have the space for it.. He hated the Jeep when i first got it but complimented me on it once I had finished most of my work and he always seems to come out while I am welding in the floors and looks impressed :dunno: He won't admit it but he loves the street bike I have, I KNOW he wants to ride, but he wont let himself because of the danger and he doesnt want to put himself into a position where he could be out of work for an extended period of time. I am still working on him, I need to get him on a bike and maybe get him out wheeling some wkend.

Im still pissed, he won a $30k custom harley and sold it  I wanted him to save it so I could buy it off him when I graduated college. Such a nice bike... but he sold it and put the $$ towards the addition they were doing on our house at the time.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

No not really. I would go no matter what you guys said. My dad is pissed that I bought these and I want to wait to mount them and sell my old tires.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you mount your new ones today you can sell your old ones that much sooner. Post your old ones on craigslist tonight for $500(it's called pulling a Billy).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

see the solution is to live on your own. problem of parents = SOLVED!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There is a kid I work that I'm trying to get to lift his '94 2-door. So I told him I'd sell him my five 31's for $220 and only one whill have a wheel.

Ah, my last computer was a budget build and lasted 3 years before it broke. This build was also a budget build (2.66GHz Q9450 w/ 12MB L2 cache, quad core; 8GB cheap RAM; 4 cheap video cards with dual outputs to run my massive desk of monitors; etc etc) and will hopefully last me four or five years. The only things I really use a lot of are screen real estate and memory, since I often have 4 rows worth of programs in my taskbar and 4-5 rows of tabs in Firefox. I multitask like crazy.
As for the MJ, maybe :eyes: I haven't decided if I can afford it yet. I still have another few hundred bucks worth of stuff to pick up for finishing my axle swap - gears, carrier, master install kit, and the track bar from Rob when he parts his old jeep out.

That sounds pretty badass, I wish I was doing that.
Well... yeah except it will involve a lot of standing around in the freezing cold lol

Yeah, my dad has his standard token disapproval of my gas mileage, not running it on ethanol, etc but otherwise I am pretty sure he wants one.

Maybe... maybe not... hadn't really planned on it, I don't like weekend ski ticket prices.

Go for it. I was on 32s and 3.55s for a few months just now (still am) and it really isn't THAT bad, I can still do 95 on the highway. In fact when I get death wobble at normal cruising speed on the highway it's usually easier for me to make it stop by speeding up from 75 to 80/85 or so then it is for me to slow down from 75 to 55 or so. Scares the crap out of passengers when I get death wobble and my instinct is to curse and floor it though :D it's kinda amusing.
