THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm going to be DDing an 18 year old XJ starting tomorrow. Its funny, I'm taking a 10 year old vehicle off the road, so I can put this 18 year old one on.

It was funny, because I sent the craigslist add to my dad, along with an add for a nice '99. I got a phone call from him once he saw it, and the first thing he said was "Call the guy, tell him you will buy it."
I wish my father was into cars or anything like that so I didn't constantly get the "why do you need that" speeches. I now get the "we are letting you live here rent free so you can save money not buy toys" even though last time I told him how much money I had saved he was surprised how much I had.. so I figured I could play with a bit of it. Oh well, now I just have more motivation to get out of this house.

And I thnk I got you beat, I'm highly considering selling a 2008 car to put a 20 year old car on the street :D I really want to do it but I have to see the truck first. If it looks real rough I may have to pass on it. Then maybe my father will turn around and say that I came to my senses and dont have to pay rent. I should have just not told them I was buying it

You could always park it at my place :eyes: Ignore the fact that it might disappear and show up somewhere else I control...
I need to keep an "emergency jeep buying fund" open I guess.
Thanks for the offer but I think you are further from me than this other guy. And parking it at his place I won't have to worry about having it lost, stolen, or vandalized.

Ugh, this is killing me, I really want an MJ but now I have myself wondering if I will get myself into a bad position where I am DDing a vehicle that would leave me stranded somewhere. I never though I would doubt my XJ/MJs but I can't help but think about it. I guess I really just need to see pictures and/or look at the Jeep before I can make any real comments.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

holy hell i just looked up that "5S" thing, and DAMN i would hate to have to do that! look at this image a quick google search came up with, and i feel it epitomizes it pretty well:

:wow:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Or you could buy/rent my dad's garage. I'd rather have 5 lifts, a paint booth, an adjacent lot, bathroom, and an office for going online and trying to figure things out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wrong state :twak:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Seeing as how it was cold as balls today, I'm thinking about putting a remote start in the Briarwood for when I start work. I have to walk 5 minutes to get to my car in the morning, and I think it will be nice to get into a warm car.

I'm not a big fan of remote start. Never had it and never saw the need for it. I do think it's cool sometimes though. But eh, the less electronics the better me say. Sucks walking out of school or out into a parking lot to get into a freezing car but i've yet to die from it so don't care.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was thinking about doing a remote start as well, but more for the XJ then me. I'm usually running late or have no ambition to go out and pre-start the car so most mornings its hop in and go. The remote start would help save the motor.

she still had hope back then

Don't kid yourself she's like a clown, laughing on the outside but cryin on the inside.

I hate coming to this thread and having a ton of pages o go thru, but when I see school & engineering stuff it makes it much easier to scroll right to the end.

I usually try and let my engine run for at least 30 seconds before driving, but sometimes I can get impatient.

Right about now I am wishing I had a remote start. Just looked outside and see my car... if it were running right now and getting warm, the next 10-20 minutes of my life would be alot better.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I thought buying 33's would make me happy, but now I'm sad that I have to wait to re-gear to put them on and that makes me sad.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

No it doesn't...it makes you *motivated* ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

No, you should have seen the hell I had to go through when I got home and told my parents that I just spent another $450. If it wasn't so cold I'd be sleeping in the Jeep.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know how that goes. It's fine, they get used to it. Just don't give in. Just spend relentlessly for a few months and after awhile they'll throw their hands in the air and give up on you, at which point you're free to spend what you want, when you want. Another thing that helps get them off your back is lying about prices. For example I told my parents my 9.5ti cost $250

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well the main part is that I just took $3300 out of my college funds to go buy a street bike. So now I have a Jeep, VW, and a bike. Along with parts piles for each.

I took $2500 out of my college loans to build myself a new computer a few years ago. Surprisingly I didn't get too much crap for that. You are starting to catch up to me. I now have a Jeep, 2 bikes (street and dual sport), and the Altima. Looking to buy a 2nd Jeep this weekend. I got/get alot of crap on a regular basis for all my vehicles.

I hear ya there. I told my parents I was thinking about buying another Jeep (which I also assured them would not be stored at their house) and they turned around and told me I was going to start paying rent to live at their house. Sigh. Hopefully wont be too much. :( I tried that whole "buy alot until they give up" thing and it didn't work too well. Maybe I won't buy another Jeep this weekend esp since I will be spending another $1000 on axles and other parts within a month or 2 for the current Jeep as it is. But I really want an MJ for $350... I guess it didn't help my case that I spent $400 on bumpers earlier this week and my father just saw them yesterday before I got home... so I walked in and got "are those new bumpers?" question, when I said yes he was fine with it. Until I then posed the "what are the plans for this weekend?" question which was directly leading into "well I may need a ride to CT since I might be buying another Jeep". I should have stopped as soon as he was OK with my new bumpers :roflmao:

Damnit, so who wants to come over my house and bend up/weld on some rockers for me while I do other stuff on the Jeep. I just realized there are not enough hours in the day for the work that I *should* get done by tomorrow afternoon/evening.
