Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yesterday i was dead tired so i went home a little after 5... and then stayed up till 11:30  gonna be hurting tomorrow/the next day when i have to do it again. part of it's deadlines, part of it is needed more hours for my trip to ireland. right now i'm a day and a half short (if i take christmas eve off) which, oh by the way, i am.

X3 on this, was in the office from 8am till 8pm yesterday... looking like more of the same today, hopefully this @$%@%@#%@#ing test will finish around 6:30 and I'll be able to start the next one and bail.

Running simulations of 2 billion transistors takes some serious CPU time. I can tap my fingers faster than the clock on this thing :D

EDIT: I know I'm gonna catch some serious :twak: saying this, but I'm seriously considering getting a set of Treadwright Warden A/Ts. I've seen nothing but good reviews online and they're so damn cheap...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

tires ordered...

Anyone happen to have a set of rims (16x7 or 16x8, 5x4.5 pattern, backspace of 3.5 or 4) they want to offload?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i got to work at 8:00, left at 5:50ish, got home at like 6:40, worked on the Jeep from 6:45 till 7:45, and now I have a conference call to make with our team in Malaysia.

I would rather be working on the Jeep :(

Oh, and I kindof almost started my fuel lines on fire tonight  The tape I put over the end of the fuel line to make it drip a bit less must have caught a spark. Suddenly I looked down and there was a ball of fire on my fuel line. Whoops, now I'm real glad I dropped teh fuel tank for this project :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm working however many hours it takes to get the stuff done by the end of the month. I already decided I'm pushing my remaining 2 weeks of vacation from this year onto next year, so at least I don't have to bust ass quite as bad.

Seems my rear springs sagged a bit from carrying around 3-400lbs of axles and junk for a few weeks... guess I might throw some shackles in it or something while I'm doing the axles.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's awesome, but I'd kinda feel like a dbag :D

Damn. Oh well, Adam got me 10% off the Die-Hards anyway...

Hey it was either that or alot of pushing and then using the come-along or by luck swap out the seized alt. I had just picked up a new one from the junkyard. I usually bring alittle goodie bag of small stuff to try quick. I've had bad cps, seized components, bad wires all types of small crap but some people just cant be bothered.

Maybe next time. Better to have them, then need them.

i would have loved to see what his face looked like when it started and moved lol.

He stayed out and watched me and when I took the belt off and said it was the alt. he was like "son of a bitch". didn't really matter to him then because he had already bought another car, but he might not have.

That's my suspicion, personally. I want to see it in person and figure out what's wrong with it before I decide anything. Also, the routine maintenance I can think of is brakes (since they've been sitting for so long, betting the rotors are rusted to the pads, etc), oil change, tranny fluid change, coolant change, brake flush, maybe diff fluid change and TC fluid change, plus flushing the old gas out of the tank and refilling. Could need a battery too. Am I stupid and missing anything?

I might too, but hey, the guy's gonna get suckered by someone and it might as well be me. We temp fixed the "bad oil leak" on my friend's MJ in the PO's driveway with $15 worth of hose, clamps, and tranny fluid, then drove it 30 miles home on route 9. It does need a lot more work though lol - like, thousands worth at a garage. Parts will total less than 500 though!

It all depends on the vehicle. I'm dealing with a vehicle that sat for awhile and I'm still working out the kinks from dried hoses, cracked lines, mice stuffing the heater box completely so no air movement, lack of grease and seized parts(Alt. very common).

cause the lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin

Haha, I actually posted that line over on UJ.

Hmmm, hopefully I dont have too many storage gremlins

-Not sure about dried out hoses/cracked lines: nothing seems too bad..
-Already cleared out 3 or 4 mouse nests (airbox, behind radio, behind plastics (above rear tire wells), and unibody rails.. anywhere else on an XJ to check out for nests? :eyes:).
-Lack of grease... well i greased stuff a little while before I put it away and only drove it maybe 1/4 mile since I took it out, greasing everything before I drive it.
-Anything else y'all recommend to check before hitting the road with the "just out of storage 18 months" XJ? FWIW, it sat outside for the summer months then went into one of those big green 'instant garage' tents for teh winter months so it wasn't directly exposed to winter weather.

Hopefully I can save stuff. It was all replaced lately anyway...
