Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so my plan for tonight is to:

- figure out how much money i have and how much i'm spending to know how much i can spend on jeep shit until i graduate in may
- write a cover letter for applying for jobs for when i graduate. there's a pretty sweet sounding one at Aerojet, a "Associate Engineer - Explosives & Armaments". i just have to make it sound awesome so they'll hire me on the spot

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Good luck finding used. I would definitely go new with beadlocks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

spent the evening under TWO jeeps... man that mj has some scary ass shit going on with the brake lines. We're gonna be replacing all of them tomorrow night because whoever did the repairs right before it was bought did a real :gee:-grade job of it. I counted at least six compression fittings and they didn't replace about six feet of the original lines (which are 100% rust) plus all the lines they did replace they just sorta tangled onto things, none of it is properly bent or clipped down.

Also, I am in shock. I just got the new d30 out of the back of my xj and into the garage and it took me all of 30min to remove every single bolt I needed to - both UCA bolts, both LCA bolts, all the shock bolts (cut those because I was lazy), the steering stabilizer bolt, all of it just came right out. There is barely any rust on the hardware and I'm going to be able to reuse all of it... $50 saved. I didn't even have to use the torch, just a breaker bar and hell I was holding onto the nuts with a pair of vise grips of all things.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ha I know exactly the MJ your talkin about. I tried cleaning them up but had no time while tryin to get that thing ready for Fall Crawl but I did replace the comp. unions with regulars and I know one of those butchered ones I replaced one that was already there. It def. needed a whole going thru.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you mean the one Steve has now - I haven't looked under that one, is it just as bad? :scared: I was actually working on the one a friend of mine just bought a month or two ago from a guy in Wellesley or somewhere near there. So far we've patched the tranny cooler lines, shunted the ballast resistor, will be replacing the rest of the brake lines tomorrow night, and have a 2wd to 4wd conversion coming up as soon as I get my new axles under my Jeep.

Whose idea was that idiotic "armor" wire wrapping on the brake lines anyways? All that seems to do is collect dirt and road salt and make the lines rust out about fifty times faster than they should. :soapbox:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have to say, I'm not looking forward to replacing the lines where they go behind the gas tank... I'm strongly considering dropping the tank for that part.
