THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was thinking about working on the Jeep more, but I think 7-8 hours today is enough. I didn't get as far as I wanted to... but the drivers side is done. Ended up my patch for under the pedals wasn't perfect and I had to rethink it a bit so that slowed me down. Still not perfect (got a couple gaps way up top) but I am going to pack those with some kind of filler. I heard some people use roofing tar between body panels if they are screwing/riveting them on... Would that stuff work well to fill in small gaps between old floor and new floor? Or what else would y'all recommend?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thats what I did with 99.9% of them, but I had rust all the way up under the pedals so the gaps I have are in an area I can't get the welder in to very well. I got it welded in but there were a few small areas that I just couldn't get a good angle on since the patch wasn't perfect

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Take off the pedals if they're in the way. The gas pedal is only two and the brake is just one. Otherwise use some JB weld and seal it over like all the other welds. I have a feeling you can get in there with the welder though. Mine is halfway up towards the fuse block almost and I welded mine just fine. Hammer it flat to the floor and go to town.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ok... yes, I admit maybe I could get the welder in there... but I am lazy.. Good call on JB weld. I figure if some people screw/rivet their floor pans in and that seems to work OK, a couple small spots of filler wont be an issue.

I really just want this to be done so I can start other (better) projects.

I wonder if the body will be any stiffer once I have floors.

Go. If all else fails, you can troll the dbags.

Keith - I just got another spare fender for my jeep, if I can get the antenna cable out of it without breaking it too badly it's all yours

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

12 point 21mm socket on the antenna cable mount thing. Then the cable just disconnects AFAIK.

haha yeah, I think I have a 12pt that big... last time I just e-taped the jaws of my channel-locs and that did the trick nicely. I'm more worried about the cable on the bottom - I need to pull mine apart and get a real piece of coax in there since I'm pushing 65 watts from my ham radio into it, and this one is my spare till I get that set up right.

EDIT: lesson re-learned: superglue sticks approximately fifty times faster to things like your fingers than it does to the parts you are attempting to put back together. It also has much greater strength in plastic to finger bonds than plastic to plastic bonds.

EDIT2: also, throttle body cleaner is not a substitute for acetone and will not dissolve the superglue at all, but will dissolve the superglue container lid in a hurry
