THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Darn, just got off the phone with another machine shop. $200-300 for lengthening a XJ shaft to length I need. I think I'm going to have to drop close to $400 on a High Angle drivelines shaft. I can get a 2 1/2 shaft .120 wall tubing shaft and a 1350 yoke for my dana 60 for about that price and that would be the best option. Then he will only charge $90 to lengthen it when I do my dana 20 swap.

MOVE THE DAMN EXHUAST!!!! you said your gunna have to re-route it anyways, so just do it now and be done with it. you are the only person i know who would spend money on a driveshaft to clear a muffler

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have to plan to come pick that driveshaft up from you Travis. I'm going up to Ashland NH for July 4th if I can't get up there sooner.

It's still at Steve's house I believe unless he dropped it off here today and I just didn't notice. But either way, that's not a problem :) ORRRR. if you'll be seeing Colin anytime soon I think we're gonna have a Pano's date on Friday, he could just get the DS and pass it on to you?

That option was taken off the plate. The J20 driveshaft is 10" longer. Also I would get a .250 wall driveshaft if I could afford one. HAD can give me a driveshaft for not much more than a machine shop can lengthen a driveshaft for me around here. I'll use the xj shaft in the front and reroute my exhaust for it then.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

AND I wasn't buying it solely to clear the muffler

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sheer goofyness

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Also I hate my steering. I hate whoever thought up weldable inserts. Ross did a really good job welding them on and then I had to have Mark help me tap them and they still SUCK. I already bent one of my rod ends on my stupid test run too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

next time i build steering, im gunna use inserts meant for 1.25" ID tube. a 7/8's thread in a 1" hole leaves too small of a sidewall on the inserts. when i welded my TB (3/4" thread into 1" ID), it had ZERO issues, both ends threaded completely super easy. the thicker inserts held up to the heat of the welding much much better. live and learn i guess.

I hate school work.

I especially hate school work were we have to write an essay, analyzing another essay we wrote.

That must be the key since we all know guys use inserts all the time on their build with great success.

Also just got off the phone with Troy from Tom Woods. $344 shipped for a CV shaft 3" diameter 0.083 wall tubing and 1310 U joints all around. Hmmmm....

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Okay okay, so i'm going to reroute my exhuast. Hopefully I'll be able to drop off the Honcho at an exhaust shop by the end of the week. I'm going to shorten the J20 rear shaft and shorten a XJ front shaft for the front. Hopefully I can stay under or around $400 for all of this.
