THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

magic, essentially

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i want 35's... what brand alloys/chromos should i get for each my d30 and 8.25? and what u-joints should i run in the front? (and don't say CTM's)

is it even feasible to run full circle clips on alloys?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i witnessed a miracle today but ill let travis fill in the details

The jeep is on a set of roller tires. Hell it's on a set of roller axles for that matter. lol. Went and borrowed an 8.25 and 30 from Tammy/Roy in DWE last night (Thanks for the help Colin ) and then tossed em under the Jeep today, gonna roll it to the backyard tomorrow to get Dad off my ass for a little while. While it's back there I can get some little finalizing touches with the 44s and start saving for the gears/shafts for the front.

is it even feasible to run full circle clips on alloys?

huh? :twak:

as for shafts, not yukon. If you can afford it I'd vote for Superior Evolutions, Superior has a great reputation, but you shell out for it... I'm planning to buy Nitro's for my front 44, I've heard alot of good about them despite the fact that they're a relatively young company. For u-joints, if you don't want solid joints my vote would definitely be to just run a set of 760s...The Alloy X joint has been having alot of quality control issues recently, and I would personally not be comfortable with running them. Until I found the deal on CTMs for mine that's what I had planned on running. I'll be putting a set of 760s with full circle clips in the stock shafts for my trail spares.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

 shows how much research i did on that subject huh?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the only reason i asked about full circle clips is that i know for stock shafts at least it requires trimming down that edge on the inside of the ear. i figured the aftermarkets would be the same...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yay i get 2 days off of work! then i get 3 days off next weekend to break my jeep

I know for a fact that alloy shafts do not require any grinding to fit a full circle clip for a u-joint. (This is true on a D44 at least)

Heard bad things about them and their (apparently BS) warranty. IDK... they *could* be decent. But it seems to be hit or miss, I guess. Superior's rep is much better, as far as I can tell. What with actually honoring their warrnaty and whatnot...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I broke my drivers side flat top knuckle by trying to imitate Ross.

:roflmao:

As for the shaft debate, Superior Evo's are probably the best avaible for a D30. Maybe if you could find an older set of Warn's, those were pretty bitchin. The Yukon's are cheap for a reason, foriegn made junk. Alloy USA shafts are nice, but theres the no longer in business issue. Factory Ten has some nice stuff too

from me

i bought a set of yukon 44 outers and ran them on my moser inners

one was severely out of spec when it got to me (ears too far apart) and my yukon superjoint install manual told me that bending the ears in using a vice was acceptable, so I did and one of the ears snapped off. they wouldnt warranty it because i my rig runs 36" tires (even though it was never installed)

the other outer broke in mud first trip with them, into about 6 pieces , didn't even bother trying to get a new one.

i have put my current shafts (nitro outers on moser inners) through hell so far and they have been holding up just lovely. Theres a vendor on pirate who will sell you a set of nitro's with u joints for about $550. best alloy shaft deal i have seen in a while.

Sold. Passenger side knuckle is still intact.

I might look at relocating the coil buckets back like you did and sucking it up and running high steer.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin, i want to hear more details of how you broke a knuckle...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know the story :) nothing spectacular, but not bad... and anthony. go on AIM. I'm lonely and no one is online to talk to..

great info, thanks sam. i'm looking to buy a package deal with everything i need so it's basically plug and play. i've heard good things about nitro too. aren't they the ones that are going to be handling alloy USA warranty claims? hmm i wonder if nitro makes 8.25 alloys... time to go hunting
